It works for me MD 2021.2 (3095) and Mac OS 10.11 (yes old OS). It is possible that something is messed up or replaced in your ~/Library/PDF Services folder or even in your /Library/PDF Services folder if this is a problem on all accounts on the Mac.

But I would think this is an OS problem rather than MD.

sthtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494744942021-11-06T16:09:00Z2021-11-06T16:09:00ZmacOS Print Option "Open in Preview" actually sends to printer without opening Preview

I agree, it's a Mac/Java thing... My own Toolbox suffers the same problem when Print Preview is requested... It pushes straight through to the printer and bypasses preview.. I am not calling any MD code...

However, if you put your printer on pause, do print or preview, you can then double-click the output in the print queue to view it before you print it...

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494744942021-11-06T16:59:20Z2021-11-06T16:59:20ZmacOS Print Option "Open in Preview" actually sends to printer without opening Preview

Thanks for the info.

wa1ouitag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494744942021-11-09T10:14:06Z2021-11-09T10:14:06ZmacOS Print Option "Open in Preview" actually sends to printer without opening Preview

The 'Save as PDF' and 'Save as Postcript' selections do work. So, the easier workaround is to save the report as a PDF and then open the saved PDF in Preview. Similar workarounds will work for the other services.

aforkoshtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494744942023-02-19T20:20:12Z2023-02-19T20:20:12ZmacOS Print Option "Open in Preview" actually sends to printer without opening Preview

It's been over 2 years and this problem hasn't been fixed!
It's annoying when I forget the bug is there and print something I want to see in Preview only... wastes too many trees.

wa1ouitag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494744942023-02-19T20:53:26Z2023-02-19T20:53:26ZmacOS Print Option "Open in Preview" actually sends to printer without opening Preview

I’m pretty sure it’s a core Java issue. I doubt therefore it will ever get fixed.

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494744942023-02-19T20:54:07Z2023-02-19T20:54:07ZmacOS Print Option "Open in Preview" actually sends to printer without opening Preview

The way I do it is to pause the print queue. Then print. Then double click the job in the printer manager to view pdf.

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494744942023-02-19T20:55:49Z2023-02-19T20:55:49ZmacOS Print Option "Open in Preview" actually sends to printer without opening Preview

Thanks for the info and suggestion… would have been nice if they had at least replied that they couldn’t fix it (if that is the case).

I have been evaluating Moneydance for a while with a view of changing from Quicken 2002 (Yep still working on Win10 !) to Mac MoneyBox.

One error? I have found is that when printing a report to PDF Preview, the report is sent to the printer.
Not sure if it is a Mac or Moneydance problem?

Works as follows ;

Click on Net Worth Report (or any of your choice)
Click on Print
Printer dialogue window opens
Bottom LHS there is a drop down menu titled PDF
Click on arrow and menu displays 7 Choices
Click on “Open In Preview” the pdf print is sent straight to the printer queue.

May just be my setup but others may have a similar problem.

Rgds

Somewhere in the follow-up, it became clear that there is a bug in the underlying Java that causes the problem. The best workaround is to use the 'Save as PDF' option and open the subsequent file in Preview.

Hopefully, once the Java developer fixes the issue, Moneydance will update to that version and note the fix in the Update notes.

aforkoshtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/494744942023-04-04T16:12:48Z2023-04-04T16:12:58ZmacOS Print Option "Open in Preview" actually sends to printer without opening Preview

Many thanks for the update
