<p>The program and your data are kept separate.</p>
<p>Before you upgrade make a backup of you data using Moneydance's backup function, in case their is a problem (this is rare)</p>
<p>When you upgrade choose to overwrite, it is rarely a good idea to keep the old version around, experienced users may do it for a specific reason or you may do it in a test environment, but in a normal user environment keeping older versions around can be problematic.</p>
<p>If you take this approach when you open Moneydance it will open the last used data set, just as it would usually and if necessary perform any upgrade (if you are upgrading from Moneydance 2012 or later).</p></div>dwg
