Capital One Credit Card / Line of Credit Account
I have a line of credit with Capital One. I can't seem to download this as a credit card account. When I go to download the account it is not available. I have seen this thread discussed but I was under the assumption that as long as Capital One supported OFX then that was all that was needed. If this option is not available, can you please give me the details on how to download/import the monthly statement into MoneyDance?
Thanks,
Ron Roberts

You may have to set up the account as a bank account. I had to do the same thing with the line-of-credit I have with my credit union. Then it should show up when you download the OFX.

Ron,
I would second Jim's suggestion. Let me know if it works for you or not. If not we can look into exploring other possible options.

Mac OS 10.4.11 MD build 735
I've been having the same issue--for a month now. I think I have to quit MD; I'm tired. I think you guys have a chance at having a great product, but this stuff we're having issues with is so basic that it only inspires frustration.
I finally got MD to accept the setting up of the line of credit (by setting it up as a bank account), but it won't download and won't import the OFX files.
Bigger problem with credit card accounts that are at the same bank as our other bank accounts--MD simply won't set up the account as a credit card or as a bank account. Another credit card that is with another bank works fine.

lahgitana,
I set my line of credit accounts up as follows:
Set up a "Bank" account with your line of credit number
Set up the "Bank" account Line of Credit account for online (but do not download yet)
Set up a "Credit Cards" account with your line of credit account number
When you download the "Bank" account Line of Credit it will ask you to reference it to the "Credit Cards" Line of Credit account
Now, every time you want to download your line of credit transactions, you will go to your "bank account" Line of Credit account and select "Download" from the Online menu and any new transactions since the last download will be downloaded and show up in your Line of Credit account under "Credit Cards" . I am not quite sure if this is the preferred method of Moneydance support but it works for me and I am fine with it. On my homepage, I show a Line of Credit account under my bank accounts, but you can select it to be removed from the homepage because it has a "0" balance

Thanks for the detailed info. It was very kind of you. I will try
as you have outlined.
(I really really don't want to go back to Quicken.)

Thank you. This did work. Now if I can get the credit card from the
same bank to show up....
It was kind of you to take the time to lay this out for me.

Well, the software is far from being perfect, after only using it for a month I do believe that it has the potential to be the best personal finance software.

Ron, I think that also, that it has great potential. I haven't given
up yet. I found that I could dink around right from the beginning
without instructions, and that's a good sign.

Thanks for the support everyone! As for the instructions, they are now within reach, and I hope to be able to post a solid release date this week, maybe even as a Valentine's Day gift!
