using GNOME its just a case of creating a launcher and specifying
the location of the icon. Right Click on your desktop and select
create launcher. The icon is in the moneydance folder. Click the
little spring button on the create launcher window and browse to
the icon.</p>
<p>See the attached screenshot.</p>

<p>Are you doing something different to this? At which point are
you getting stuck?</p>
<p>Ben</p></div>Ben Spencertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/9361882010-02-02T17:31:33Z2010-02-02T17:31:43Zdesktop icon<div><p>I am so frustrated I could jump off a cliff!! I backed up my
data and then uninstalled Moneydance and downloaded it again and
started over from scratch. I did end up with the proper icon on my
desktop but when I click it nothing happens. When I go to my bin
where I downloaded it and right click the icon it won't let me
check the box to make it executable. Everything is unzipped. I
don't understand what is happening.<br>
Hope you can help.<br></p></div>Bobtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/9361882010-02-02T19:19:08Z2010-02-02T19:19:08Zdesktop icon<div><p>It is not clear to me if you have installed moneydance and are
trying to make the startup script executeable or if you have not
installed moneydance and are trying to make the install script
executeable.</p>
<p>Either way if KDE isnlt letting you set the execute flag on a
file long in as root, open a terminal and run the command</p>
<p>chmod filename +x<br></p>
<p>Where filename is the name of the file you want to allow to be
executed.</p>

the file in /home/bin<br>
I unzipped it. I went to terminal as su and to the directory of bin
and moneydance and chmod +x. I got the error message "invalid
mode." When I right click on the desktop, I have run command<br>
add widgets<br>
add panel<br>
desktop settings<br>
lock widgets<br>
lock screen<br>
leave<br>
I cannot get anything to execute now. I did not have this problem
with MD2008.<br>
Any help would be greatly appreciated.</p></div>Bobtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/9361882010-03-02T20:12:32Z2010-03-02T20:12:32Zdesktop icon<div><p>Bob,</p>
<p>I apologize for the long delay in our response, I am embarrassed
to say that we have been snowed under with questions about
Moneydance 2010. Are you still having this issue, and if so, would
you please include the version of Moneydance you are using, your
OS, and the version of Java you are using (if different from
above)?</p>
<p>Please let me know how I can be of further assistance,</p>
