Importing Transactions 2022.2
Hello,
I recently upgraded to 2022.2 and one thing bug came up: When I import transactions to an investment account, old, inactive accounts pop up as options for importing. With the 2021 version, this did not happen.
I did confirm that the accounts are inactive by going to TOOLS – ACCOUNTS, highlighting the account, and clicking “Edit” and ticking “inactive”.
Is there a workaround for this issue? or did something change so that inactive accounts do no show up when importing transactions?

Hi Leo,
We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.
Can you try upgrading to the latest preview version, as this should hopefully fix the problem for you?
Moneydance 2022.3 (4062) is now available to download from this page.
For a full list of improvements in the preview version, please refer to this page.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

Hello,
I did improve it. However, it does not remove it from the import list. It now highlights the inactive account when importing transactions as blue. It still lets me select that account (though I did not import the transactions to it, I don’t want to be fixing anything at the moment).
Thanks

I'm surprised to hear that since Moneydance 2022.3 build 4062 includes a fix precisely for that:
Are you saying that although they appeared dimmed now, they are still selectable and still show in the import list?
Have you tried to check these two options and restart Moneydance?:
From Account --> Edit Account. Check the “Inactive” box.
and the “Hide on Summary Page if balance is zero” option.

Oh yes,
The account is inactive, and I have restarted MD. The account does appear dimmed but I am able to select it. I am even able to import the transactions. I confirmed this because I did a backup and imported the transactions into the inactive account. I had to restore from the backup to get it back to normal.

Hello,
This issue may not be totally related but since we are following up on possible issues I have another question. As I mentioned in post 4, I had to restore from backup but syncing did not restore when it did. I set up syncing using the same encryption password over Dropbox connection today. Now I have a couple of days of transactions on my phone that are not showing on my main file on my Mac. Is there anything that can be done to force sync those transactions?

Firstly, we would recommend downloading and installing Moneydance 2022.3 (4063) from this page.
Secondly, I've attached a file called "convert_secondary_to_master.py" that should resolve this problem for you. Before using the file, you can take a backup of your Moneydance data set, using the File --> Export Backup.
To use the .py file, first save it to your computer and then follow these steps:
Once completed, navigate back to File --> Syncing, and you should now be able to select the required sync method.
Please let me know if you have any problems running the script, or if you continue to encounter issues .

Thank you!
I did get it working. The advantage is that now I have an "offline" version of my original account to test stuff, haha.
Anyway, I don't know if you meant it so that 2022.3 was the version to fix the issue with investment accounts, but unfortunately, it is still there. Of course, if you only meant for me to download the most recent version, then I am still eagerly awaiting it! :)

Nope... When you restore you reset your sync settings... Once you have done this you cannot reconnect to an existing Sync... However, you can File/New/Open Sync'd copy to reopen your sync'd copy...
(The script referenced above will only let you setup a new sync)
