using tags
Why do some of my tags have brackets on either side of the entry and some don't? I use numbers in the tag field...here's an example:
210 but sometimes it shows up as [210]. I never typed in the brackets. Please help!

Each Txn has two sides a) the source account/category and b) the target account/category.. When you are viewing the Txn from the 'other' side then you see the parent's data in []s - e.g. [tag]...
Right click and show other side...

Hi Alan,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
Generally a tag is only applied to one side of a transactions but all the transactions have two sides. If you apply a tag on one side of a transaction and then look at the other side you will see the tag in square brackets to indicate that the other side includes a tag.
Finally it might be useful referring you to this article of the Knowledge base.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

When but when I run the Tag Summary it doesn't add the same numbers, i.e.
210 and [210] together....
Sometimes I entered the tag after the initial entry....does that matter?

I'm a fellow user
Aa tag in square brackets is showing you what is on the other side of the transaction for informational purposes only it is not part of that side's transaction.
If it added the two together the net amount would be 0.
