Pricing Extension Error
Hi
Trying to get year end price and cannot get any.
use
Extension
Quote and Exchange Rate
Select one security just to test
Click Update Now
And receive following error message:
"Unable to get rate from 143658300 to USD"
Not sure what this means and how to fix it.
Please help, thanks

Lots of users are reporting problems with Quote and Exchange Rate updater.
Instead try the extension Quote Loader under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSION

Download the PDF’s attached to post 200 and have a read.

Hi Derek,
Thanks for the email, we are still running the 2017 version of the Moneydance, I believe the reason we didnot do the upgrade that time in that we only use it for Investment accounts tracking and the new upgrade seems to be for Bank and Credit cards.However in order to use Quote Loader I think we will have to upgrade to newer version, the questions is which version should we upgrade to?Are there any instructions on the upgrade? I think last time when we upgrade to 2017 there are step by step intructions on how to convert.
Grateful any suggestions you can give!

The base data format in Moneydance 2017 and the latest Moneydance 2022 is the same so upgrading presents no real challenges, obvious you do a data backup before you start the upgrade as a precaution.

Upgrade to 2022 Moneydance and install Quoteloader and able to pull year end price without problem.The manual price update on donot load item seems not working, double click on the new price field, able to enter price but cannot get out of the field, only way is to close the Extension, not sure where I did wrong.But it is not a show stopper the main function of downloading price works beautifully and way faster than the old function that use to take hours.

The purpose of the Source Setting ‘Do not load’ is to prevent QL from trying to return a price, say in the case when neither source supports that security. In these cases, you can manually enter a ‘New Price’ and ‘Trade Date’. Take a look at page 7 of the PDF point 2 under the heading RETURNED PRICE IS ZERO to see the steps required. Once you have entered the required data simply click on another field, say the name of the security. If after trying this you still have issues post again with your computer operating system and detail the process you are following.

Follow the instructions in the PDF, double click the New Price field, type in the price then the cursor stuck, unable to click other fields like the trade date, the cursor stay in the Price field, can only get out by clicking the CLOSE button.

The attached video shows how a manual edit works for me on Windows 10.
As Stuart suggests post the Moneydance errlog.txt file, it may reveal something.
In Quote Loader click HELP – TURN DEBUG ON/OFF and set to DETAILED.
Close Moneydance and restart and run Quote Loader then edit a price and trade date. When you hit the problem close Moneydance and then post the errlog.txt file to be found at
C:\Users\user name.moneydance

I did exactly as shown in the vedio, however once enter the new price when click the Trade Date column nothing happen, the cursor stay in price field; and was not able to move to any other column except clicking the CLOSE button.Attach please find the "err.log" as requested.

There was an update made to the Quote Loader extension just recently that brings the version to v3045 and seems to restore the functionality. My guess is yahoo changed their API and some code changes were required.

I am not aware of any changes between Quote Loader build 3042 and 3045 that would change manual edit. The video was shot using 3042. I have asked Mike the developer to take a look at the errlog file.

Mike has taken a look at the error log and thinks he can see the issue. Until a new build is available I would suggest in Quote Loader you set the Decimal Digits to no greater than 6 and see if that allows you to edit and report back.

Change to 6 Decimal and was able to manually edit the prices without problem, thanks for all the help.
