Income and Expenses Report

When I open the Income and Expenses Report, then click on Edit, the dialog box does not show a list of income and expense categories until I click on the Tax Related checkbox. I was not initially aware that they could be individually chosen, as in other reports, until I accidentally clicked Tax Related.

Also, a small thing, but this being an Income and Expenses report, not an Expenses and Income report, the list of categories in this dialog really should show Income categories first just as the printed report shows them.

Great program! I had been using Quicken2000 for years and so glad to move back to double entry accounting. Keep up the good work.

Thanks.

    Hi John,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

I'd recommend using the 'Income and Expense, Detailed' report.

Reports are accessible via Tools --> Graphs and Reports, or in the left side bar (below your accounts).

When viewing the report settings, you can choose the accounts to include and you can specify the date range. The date range can be set as longer than just 12 months.

At the bottom of the report settings window, you'll likely see 'All Income' and 'All Expense'. Choose the button to the right of this - "Show: By Individual'. This will display each of your individual categories and you can choose which to include/exclude before generating the report to view your data.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

    Dear Maddy,

Thank you for this information. I could not understand why I had to check Tax Related to get the categories to appear. This is what answered my question:

“Choose the button to the right of this – ‘Show: By Individual.’ This will display each of your individual categories and you can choose which to include/exclude before generating the report to view your data.”

I appreciate your help. After 20 years of single entry, I’m so happy to get back to a fully featured, double entry accounting program.

    John
