<p>It is not an easy thing to do and Moneydance is not designed to work that way. Doing so prevents any comparison reporting for example and it a particularly bad thing to do if you hold investments.</p>
<p>To limit the amount of data that you see in registers, if that is the problem, the transaction filter bar has been provided at the top of the registers. Most reports provide the ability to set date ranges so you can limit the data reported on. <p>I would follow dwg's advice but if you're absolutely sure that starting a new data file is what you want, then make a backup of your data set and take a look at the following post for some suggestions on how to go about it.<br>
