Hello,
That doesn't sound like a Moneydance backup file. Is that the name of the file you are trying to restore? Moneydance backup files should generally end with the .moneydancearchive or .moneydance file extensions.

Hi there,
This happened a few years ago. It's weird... I just had to rename the file.
Thank you,

I'm glad to hear it sounds like things are sorted out.
Upon closer look, it appears that your file name has been truncated to the very old standard of an eight character file name, a period, and a three character file extension. So a file name called something like "Moneydance data.moneydance" could be shortened to something like MONEYD~1.MON in that situation. This hasn't really been a file naming standard that most operating systems enforce for over two decades. Moneydance itself wouldn't rename a file like this on its own, so my guess is that there's a program on your computer that is doing this, possibly using an old file transfer protocol for backups or moving data. I'm honestly at a bit of a loss as to what would be doing this in the present computing era, but if this is perhaps on a computer someone else administers, it may be worth checking in with them about what could be causing this. That's just my best guess about what's happening.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
Ethan
