<p>Most financial institutions will require you to enable your
accounts for application-based online banking. I'm afraid it is
usually more productive to lie and tell your bank that you are
using Quicken. Moneydance uses exactly the same OFX server
connection protocol as Quicken but you bank representative many not
know this and mistakenly believe that they do not support
Moneydance. Calling up your bank and stating precisely the
following should get you started. "Please enable direct connect on
my account such that I can connect to your servers directly with
Quicken. Also give me the login credentials I need to connect
Quicken to this service."</p>
<p>Application-based online banking often requires a different
login/PIN than the ones that are used for ATM or web-based banking.
When you enable your account for access from Moneydance or Quicken,
your financial institution should let you know what customer
ID/login and PIN to use.</p>
<p>Please try to connect using the connection from our list, it
affects the way the bank "sees" Moneydance and will prevent the
APPID error message.</p>
<p>Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank
you for your interest in Moneydance.</p>

<p>Thank you for your quick response.</p>
<p>I have the correct login credentials for online banking. I
connected<br>
successfully with Quicken. I need to know how to make MoneyDance
tell the<br>
server that it's Quicken. I'm using MoneyDance 2010 for Mac. Can
you tell<br>
him how to do this?</p>
<p>Thanks,</p>

<p>When you connect in Moneydance by using the New Connection
button, Moneydance connects to the bank as Quicken. Moneydance
usually only connects as itself when you use the manual setup.</p>
<p>Quicken supports two methods of accessing your accounts: direct
connect and web connect. With web connect, they basically connect
to your bank's website and download and import OFX files. Direct
connect actually connects to a server at your bank instead of their
website and usually requires different login credentials than you
would use to log into your banks website. It could be that you are
currently using web connect in Quicken, so it would work without
needing to contact your bank. Moneydance only supports automatic
connections through direct connect and not web connect. You can
still download OFX files form your bank and import them, but
there's currently no way to do this automatically from within
Moneydance.</p>

<p>I use the Quicken software and not the web-based version. I can
see the OFX<br>
server that Quicken is connecting to. Are those the two ways you
are<br>
referring to connecting?</p>
<p>When I use the MoneyDance TDECU connection I get a
username/password error.<br>
When I enter the OFX info manually it gives me the following
message "APPID<br>
MNDC not licensed." Does that mean that it is connecting to the
server, but<br>
is not downloading my file?</p>

<p>Web connect is built into the Quicken software. You usually
can't tell whether or not you're using direct connect of web
connect when using Quicken without looking for very specific
information in Quicken's OFX logs. The OFX server is usually
different than the server that you would connect to in order to
download files from your bank's website</p>
<p>You'll definitely need to use the regular connection and not the
manual setup for TDECU. When you use the manual setup, Moneydance
connects as Moneydance, which is what's causing the APPID error. if
you use the regular setup, Moneydance will connect as Quicken.</p>

username/password error.<br>
This does not happen with the same username/password when
connecting with<br>

<p>Are there other settings to change?</p>

<p>Unfortunately, there aren't any other settings in Moneydance
that will enable your account for direct connections with your
bank. You will need to contact them in order to have your account
activated. They may give you a new username and password to use for
connecting.</p>

MoneyDance and were<br>
working to allow a connection. At this point, due to their new
