Hi Kathryn

When you purchase a key its valid for the current version at the time of purchase plus the next major version. Say you purchase a key for 2021 the 2022 is a free upgrade. All builds within a version you have a key for are free. Thus all up and coming preview (beta) build of 2022 are free to you.

I am running 2022.3(4063) and it seems pretty good. What bugs are you finding?
Provide as much detail as to can so they can be fixed

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/501143222022-02-12T18:08:24Z2022-02-12T18:08:25Z2022 beta

Hi Derek,

For what you’re saying, I gather that since my 2022 beta version was my one upgrade, I should still be able to switch to the final 2022 version whenever it’s available.

I had a couple of issues that I think are probably reconciliation and banking issues. However, the one thing that I’m sure is a Moneydance issue is something missing. I’m not sure what it’s called but it’s the strip that runs down the side that you can use to pull displays up or down with. I don’t have one next to the left most column which lists the accounts, reports, etc. That makes it difficult to move up and down in that area. It also is not available when I look at my income/expense report. I just have to use the up or down arrow and keep pressing it until things move around. I’m assuming that something like that would be fixed in the final version. so I was just trying to find out if I’m eligible to move to the final version when available.

Hi Kathryn

Some background. When a major version of Moneydance is released its named with the year i.e. 2022. As bugs are found and fixed or minor features added a new preview build is released. A build number is added to the year. At irregular intervals the latest preview build is turned into a release version, a ‘.x’ number, plus build is added to the year. A release build will still contain bugs. This process is repeated as time goes by. So at the moment the last release of 2022 is 2022.2(4060) at https://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software. This release goes out to third party vendors but the process of bug fixes goes on. The latest preview build which fixes bugs found in the last release is currently 2022.3(4063) at https://infinitekind.com/preview. At some time in to future what ever is the preview build will be turned into a release build. Third party vendors don’t get preview builds. Bottom line preview build have more bugs fixed and features added than a release build. A rough list of changes is available at https://infinitekind.com/preview

The scroll bar for the Side Bar, list on left, is only visible when the mouse is hovering between Side Bar and Summary page. First screen shot no mouse at the junction of Side Bar and Summary page so no scroll bar..
Second screen shot mouse at junction so scroll bar visible.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/501143222022-02-12T22:18:27Z2022-02-12T22:18:27Z2022 beta

Hello,

I appreciate all your explanations even though I clearly don’t have your level of understanding of software development, etc. FYI, the version I have is 2022.3 (4063), so I guess it is the latest so far. I gather that as long as I stay with 2022, I can move up to the latest iteration for the year multiple times. I’m now wondering if there is any background upgrading or if I have to go get it.

Regardless, I do know about hovering to get a scroll bar as I have other programs that do that (very annoying). However, it simply does not work on my version - and I have a brand new Mac mini M1. The only way I was able to get down to some of the reports at the bottom of the list was to make the window larger and collapse some of the categories. And there is still no scroll bar in the report itself. I have figured out how to make it all work, but it is irritating to have to use awkward workarounds.

I have a Macbook Pro with M1 Max running Monterery 12.1

For me, I just "scroll" - with my trackpad, I two finger up and down (and that's when the scroll bar appears as well). With my mouse, I use the scroll "button" between the left and right clickers.

Going with exactly what you mention, I can't get the scroll bar to come up (I get the resize window small cross), but just assuming scroll will work within the window works for me.

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/501143222022-02-13T03:24:42Z2022-02-13T03:24:43Z2022 beta

Thank you. Good thought! I do have a scroll ring on my trackball but I never use it. I’ll have to try it out.

You can use any build/release within a version of Moneydance you have a license for.

Moneydance does not do background updates. The company believes that you should be in control of your system and software without processes performing what could be unknown activities in the background, hence you need to download any newer version you want and install it.

Some users do install every version that becomes available but many users upgrade infrequently. As someone that tests the software I have many versions installed on test systems, however on my main machine that I manage my finances on I have quite an old version of Moneydance on it.

dwg
