I have small CSV file. tried 5 times to import, tweaking the file and setup but nothing ever registers in MD. I have edited it to get rid of several initial lines that do not have data and also got rid of the $ symbols. Here is a sample of a line
2/7/2022,ACH,,DISCOVER E-PAYMENT 220206,52.15,,"$1,718.06 "
the CSV setup in MD says: Date, Ignore, Memo, Description, Debit, Credit, Ignore

but nothing is entered in MD

what am I doing wrong? what else to tweak ? I have the date format etc. correct.

Try loosing the quotes, symbol, spaces, and commas in the value field. So just 1718.06 for example?

    Hi jmorgie,

By any chance is there a blurb at the bottom of the register stating that you have 1 Unconfirmed Transaction?

If so, click the 'Split Register' button in the upper right-hand corner of the register (to the right of the 'New Transaction' button).

Doing so will hopefully reveal the hidden transaction.

yes there shows as 1 unconfirmed. I deleted it and tried to import again. I also deleted an empty last line in the csv file.
here are the first 2 lines in my input csv:
    2/17/2022,CHASE CREDIT CRD AUTOPAY,2.19,
    2/7/2022,DISCOVER E-PAYMENT,52.15,

when i tried import again it show 1 unconfirmed from 02/19/2022
this is a date that has not an entry in the csv.
so I opened transaction details for unconfirmed. deleted that record from the csv file.

created new account. imported edited csv file into it. now 0 unconfirmed. but also zero transactions in the new account.
Import still *NOT* working. ... why ??

What does it take for MD support to actually support a solution ?

    Hi jmorgie,

Can you post an example of an actual, unedited, version of the CSV file produced by your financial institution? I'd like to see how it is formatted and I'd like to see if I can import it without issue.

Even a small sample of the file would be sufficient. Just don't delete any columns.
Include at least 1 debit transaction and one credit transaction; again, to see how they are formatted.

State whether this CSV file generated from a Bank account or a Credit Card company.

Keep in mind that these are public forums. Make sure that there is no sensitive information (e.g., account numbers) contained in the CSV file before posting it.

thanks for jumping in and trying to help.

it is as I posted: this is a csv from schwab which i have read into excel in order to delete some columns; then wrote as csv from excel

many of the lines have private data i do not wish to share.

here is a snippet -- first 3 lines

    2/4/2022,CHASE CREDIT CRD AUTOPAY 220203,1641.45,,
    1/31/2022,Interest Paid,,0.03,
    1/28/2022,EBAY INCEQOU6BNS PAYMENTS 220128~ Tran: ,9.37,,

Solved: [thanks to Stuart & Kevin]. I needed to hit the 'Fewer Fields' button to trim the number of 'Ignore' fields at the end of the line to match actual line length

    Hi jmorgie,

I'm glad to hear that you were able to get things sorted out.

BTW, the Moneydance knowledge base has an article on importing csv files.

Thank you for reporting back with your findings.
