Can you go to help/console and post that too.

Yes, I agree the console log that's generated when this error occurs would be helpful as well. Also the version of Moneydance and operating system (although that should be included in the full logs).

Exactly where is this log file located? I looked all through the MD
directory and find no such file.
I'm running the latest MD release on Win 10 64 bit.

With Windows 10 the error log should be located under your login directory at:
C:\Users\(yourusername)\.moneydance\errlog.txt

Sorry to hear about the problems you've encountered.
Have you manually changed, deleted, renamed, or moved any files within your yourfilename.moneydance data set folder? Are you sharing your data set with more than one computer, or more than one account on the same computer? Can you confirm whether or not you've had the file open in Moneydance on different computers at the same time, or before any the internal files had a chance to sync between computers, perhaps?
You can resolve the problem as follow:
1) Return your data file/s to the default location.
or
2) Restore from a backup. (If you opt for this and you are syncing your data file with other devices, you would have to reset sync).
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

I’ve changed nothing. No duplicate copies anywhere. Tried the restore as a
test and same problem exists. Something has happened between last months
reports output and this months?
If I save my Monthly Report as TAB delimitated I get the error.
If I save my Monthly Report as comma Delimitated I get a file *.csv which I
can edit with MS Office macro.
Another problem that is happening……
Rearranging columns and saving does not save the new column setup. It used
to do that?

Please can you try restoring from a backup, as this should resolve the issue?
When you restore data from a backup file, a new data file will be created for use going forward. If the restored data file is in the default location, it's accessible from Moneydance via Help --> Show Documents Folder.
Any data files stored here are accessible from the program by choosing File --> Open. Any files you've created or restored will be listed here.
If so, you can restore these files into Moneydance by double clicking them.
Alternatively, choose File --> Restore from Backup (or 'Import New Account Set' from the Welcome window). Then navigate to and select the backup file.
If you'd like to re-name the restored file, you can follow the steps in this article from the knowledge base.
It's important you close the Moneydance program fully before you make any changes.
Then change the data file name to whatever you want - just be sure to retain the .moneydance file extension at the end of the file name.
Please keep us posted on your progress, Thank you!

So how far back am I being forced to get bckup? One month will make me
input tons of data from last monthly.
What would cause this to happen from one month to another? i backup almost
every day to two days. So do I start from last backup date, test report,
then keep getting bckups by date until I find one that works.
Is this what I must do?
Support Staff 10 Posted by Maddy on Mar 08, 2022 @ 03:22 PM
Moneydance creates automatic backup files. A backup file will be created each time you close your file until the set number exist, then each file will be updated in turn.
Have you tried restarting Moneydance at all?
Your log is showing a Padding error and normally this shouldn't be able to happen unless there's been some change to a part of the data file outside of Moneydance's control this is why restoring from a backup is a sensible solution in this case.

Confused about what file to retrieve from backup?
1. A bkup file or a set number ?
What is a set number?
I don’t keep MD running 24/7, I only open it when I have data to input.
How does “part of the data file get changed” outside of MD?
I startup MD enter my info and exit out. I do nothing with any data files.
Only file I create is monthly reports.
