We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.

Which version and build of Moneydance are you using?
To check, open Moneydance and select Moneydance --> About Moneydance

Generally, you could "Batch Change" which allows you to make changes to a single transaction, or multiple transactions at once.

Batch Change allows you to make changes to the Description, Check#, Memo, Tags, Category, and Account fields in the register.

For further details about this function, please refer to this article in the Knowledge Base.

When using the Batch Change option, the accounts list will show only accounts containing the same currency as the account you want to move transactions from.

Also, you could install the Find and Replace extension by going to Extensions -> Manage extensions. Then go to Extensions -> Find and Replace to use it to find and replace the require fileds.

Finally, are you going through the confirmation process as outlined here?

If so, you could select Moneydance --> Preferences --> Network and set the option "Only match downloaded transactions when they are at most 'N' days apart". Change the N to 0. This should help limit any incorrect merges in future.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need any assistance.

A batch edit doesn’t address the issue, because each check is written to a different payee. Once I edit one, I no longer see the other transactions that have “Check” as the payee downloaded from the bank.
