Importing CSV transactions from credit union

My credit union is not among your institutions for which automatic downloads can occur, so I create a CSV file from my credit union and import it into Moneydance. However, though it imports the date, description, etc. properly, it imports all debits and credits as deposits in Moneydance -- which is of course not helpful. How can I make it properly import debits as "payments" and credits as "deposits?"
(My bank only offers CSV export.)

Perhaps you can post a sample CSV file that shows the issue, that could help us determine if it is a file problem or an import settings problem.

if you are using the mdcsvimport extension, and you mean the -132.30 and +75.00 simply reverse what you call it -Payment- or -Deposit-
it doesn't matter. They are just opposite sign of each other.
