Moneydance 2022.3 (4077) Does Not allow new transactions for investments
Discovered this morning that I can no longer enter investment new transactions. Doesn't matter whether I press Crtl+N or press the New Transaction button. Neither work. Didn't have this problem at the end of last month, in an earlier build of Moneydance

Just reverted to Moneydance 2022.3 (4076) and the problem disappeared!

Hi Richard,
I'm not able to reproduce this behavior in the Windows 32-bit version of MD 2022.3 (4077).
What version are you running?

The issue appeared in Moneydance 2022.3 (4077) Windows 64-bit. It does not
appear in the previous version Moneydance 2022.3 (4076) 64-bit

I've just tried Build 4077 on Windows 10 64 bit and cannot reproduce the problem either

I just tried reinstalling 4077 and can reproduce the problem with all my
investment accounts, which I have confirmed did not exist in previous
builds. This problem does not exist on Assets, Bank Accounts or Credit
Cards. Only Investments are not functioning.
FWIW, I am running Windows 10 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1682)

Me too. On Mac. Random!

I’ve just reported it on Slack.

Ah.. It might be where you have no securities added to the account..? Can you check this?
9 Posted by dwg on 01 May, 2022 12:50 PM
Do you happen to have the register sorted with new/latest transactions at the top?
10 Posted by Richard Frisch on 01 May, 2022 12:58 PM
I do not record the individual securities as the investments are in trust
accounts and each trust has quite a few securities. I am only concerned
with the totals, not the details. So instead, I treat the accounts as if
they were mutual funds, making a month end adjustment to the value of each
of the trusts.
I sort all my accounts from oldest (on top) to newest (on bottom).

So you just have an investment account with no securities assigned to it, just maintaining an account balance by using Xfr entries?

Yes.

Ok I have been able to duplicate the problem on a brand new account with no securities and I randomly see it on existing accounts with securities and transactions.
This looks tobe one for the developer to look at.

I'm having the same problem with the new version. I manually track my two 457(b) accounts. Tried to use the "New Transaction" but no dice. I may have to revert the previous version as well.

Temporary fix.. Create a dummy security. Add the security to the account (but don't use it).. Then NEW should work... Remove from the account later when it gets fixed...

Hi Stuart,
I went to set up a dummy security as you recommended and when I select the “New Transaction” button in my on both my regular 457(B) accounts—nothing happens. No issues with my other investment accounts though.

Glenn

Did you go to the securities tab and top right, actions, add security as well?

Hi Stuart, My 457B investment account has no securities assigned to it. I just maintain it as an account balance by using Xfr entries and at the end of the month add the dividends?

Using a Mac here, same issue. Adding a dummy security fixes the issue.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for bringing this problem to our attention! I've let our developers know. Thanks also to Stuart for figuring out a temporary workaround.

I have this same issue using the Linux version.
Dummy account works as a work-around. Would like to see this fixed correctly though.

It’s fixed in 4080

Thanks. I had checked for update, but the fixed version was not found.
26 Posted by Stuart Beesley ... on 28 May, 2022 06:14 PM
do you mean that you have now found and installed 4080 and it worked, or that you could not find it, or that it's not fixed?

This should be resolved in the preview version released a few weeks ago. If you are still having this issue, please let us know the exact version of Moneydance you are running.
