I tried connecting Moneydance+ to my Chase bank accounts. I signed in and selected the accounts to sync. Then I got this error:

There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.
Bank Name: Moneydance+
The error code reported by the server was: 0
Received malformed response: Response{protocol=h2, code=401, message=, url=https://mdplus.infinitekind.com/plaid/item/get}

    Hi Ben,

I'm a Chase Visa client. I don't think that you need to be using Moneydance+ in order to connect to Chase. Chase supports regular OFX connections.
Did you try connecting to Chase via the regular Set Up Online Banking routine?

You will need to authorize your account(s) for desktop software on the Chase website prior to setting up online banking and you may need to verify your identity before it will all work. Verifying your identity is a simple matter of clicking a supplied link from Chase.

just a user - what Kevin said - given your error I recommend reading the second paragraph of that message.

I have used Chase with OFX for years with only one problem during that period.

The only thing that could be different is I think we are both referrring to Chase Credit, and you say Chase bank.

I've tried to set up regular online banking with Chase before. I always
ran into this error though when I try to download transactions: A
communication or parsing error occurred. This could be the result of a
network problem, a proxy error, or misconfigured server. Error
    Description: java.net.UnknownHostException: onlineofx.chase.com

Now if I go to "set up online banking" in Moneydance it takes me straight
to Moneydance+. Is there even a way to do it without Moneydance+ anymore?

I am referring to Chase Credit. Where do you go on the Chase website to
set it up and do this identity verification? I've always had to manually
    download the OFX files.

    HI Ben,

Log on to the Chase website.
Along the blue header bar at the top, click on 'Security & privacy'.
Scroll down to and click on 'Desktop software'.
I'm not 100% sure what the next step is as my account(s) are already set up for desktop software but I'm sure that it's self-explanatory.

Once you authorized your account, open Moneydance to your Chase accout. (you must be open to your Chase account)
From the Moneydance menu bar, go to 'Online' > 'Set Up Online Banking'. Follow the prompts but take your time. Some of the steps may take a moment or two to appear. Do not skip any of the steps. There is no room for error.

After setting up online banking it is now that you may or may not be required to verify your identity. Again, verifying your identity is a simple matter of clicking a supplied link from Chase.

    Hi Kevin,

This has been helpful. I was able to set up online banking with one of my
Chase cards. However, another one is not working and it might be a bug.
From what I can tell, once an account has been attempted to be set up with
Moneydance+ it won't let you do the regular OFX setup. Going to 'Online' >
'Set Up Online Banking' takes you directly to the Moneydance+ screen (the
prompt to choose between Moneydance+ and OFX is bypassed). Is this the
intended behavior or is this a bug?

Unrelated, do you know what other banks support OFX connections via similar
steps? Specifically I'd be interested in getting it set up for US Bank,
Citi, Discover, Capital One, American Express, Lowes, and Paypal.

    Hi Ben,

I don't use Moneydance+ so I can't speak to the behavior that you are experiencing with regards to setting up online banking for your other account.

I will yield to the Moneydance support staff to help you further with that issue.

For a complete list of financial institutions that support OFX direct-connect look to the following list.

You will need to disconnect your md+ connections to chase before you can set up the old style ofx dc connections. So, disconnect each, click refresh. Once the connections have gone, install/run toolbox. Enable uodate mode. Online banking tools. Cleanup banking links. Restart MD. Now try to set up OFX DC connection.
