When I copy data from a report output and paste it into Excel, the character "£" becomes "£". This is something new that's only started happening with the latest version of Moneydance. I saw it initially when some currency values ended up being interpreted as strings in Excel, instead of numbers. Now I've also seen it with a security name that has "£" in the middle of the name.

Java changed the default (on Windows). If you use the latest 4077 of moneydance, there is a new option - something save csv for Excel with BOM. Use this.

I think I found the option you mean, but saving to a .csv is not a worthwhile option. I'm using "Copy" to the clipboard, and pasting into an existing worksheet. It would be less trouble to manually edit out the junk characters after pasting than to save to a separate sheet, open that, and copy the data across from that. I did most of the latter, and although I didn't keep a count, it felt like it was going to require something like 10-15 actions overall, compared to two for copy and paste.

(OK I forgot to count the number of edits I would have to do as part of the cost of copy and paste, so it's more than 2 actions. But still easier overall.)

Windows 11. Using the copy button on the report.

I’ll report it. I know why but may be a tricky fix.
