I just upgraded my macbook pro to Monterey, my Moneydance app now has a question mark and will not open.
How can I fix this? Do I have to upgrade? How do I get my previous moneydance info back, it should have been backed up with my timemachine. Please help!
-Thank you

    Hi Andrea,

We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.

The question mark usually appears when the original location of the app has been moved.
Could you try to re-download the application and transfer it to your applications folder?
The program will initially appear in your Downloads folder, and I'd recommend moving it from here to your Applications folder.
Could you check both these locations for any other copies of Moneydance? You can simply remove any other versions.
You can 'right click' on the ? icon you're seeing in the Dock, and select Options --> Remove from Dock.
After moving the newest version of Moneydance to the Applications folder, can you try to open it from here. When open 'right click' on the Moneydance icon in the Dock and select Options --> Keep in Dock. This should retain the Moneydance icon going forward.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

Where do I download app from? I purchased directly from moneydance
    originally. Not from app store.

    Thank you for your assistance,
    -Andrea

    Hi again,
Are you saying I must upgrade to the 2022 version first? Or can I
re-download what I had previously purchased? Where do I download app
from? I purchased directly from moneydance originally. Not from app store.
But I think my version is really old.

    Thank you for your assistance,
    -Andrea

Okay, I figured it out. I guess I had version 2014 and I was able to
re-download it from the MD site and it looks like it is working now.
If I decide to upgrade to 2022, will I be able to keep / transfer my
    information from this older version?
    -Thanks again

Firstly, you should take a manual backup before proceeding with the upgrade and save it to e.g.your desktop (just in case).

I've checked our records using your email address and I can confirm that your license key:

    • B2011157-D9EE8F9E

is valid for use with Moneydance 2014 and Moneydance 2015.

If you would prefer upgrading to Moneydance 2022 (recommended), you can enter your current license key into the 'Upgrading?' box on this page to redeem a 50% discount. After purchasing, you'll be sent a new license key via email.

Finally, your data files created using the older version of Moneydance are normally detected automatically in the new version. These can also be opened by selecting Open Other from the Welcome to Moneydance window.

Please keep us posted on your progress, Thank you!
