Q) How to re-sync when syncing seems to be broken?

Hi,

I am using Moneydance 2021.1 (3069).
I have setup syncing between two computers using shared folders since last year and the two Moneydance files on both PCs always
stay in synch. However, just a few days ago, I noticed that new entries on either PC are not getting to the other
file. The shared folders ( Google Drive ) do tell me that the mdsyncinfo.txt are getting updated but maybe something
else is not getting through. Both my PCs are running Windows 10 and on the same home network.
How can I debug the situation?
Is it possible to reset the sync or force the syncing process to see if the two Moneydance files can get back into
sync?

Thanks

Yup. Install/run extension Toolbox. Enable advanced mode. Advanced button. Force Push/refresh Sync. Do this from your primary/master. Wait, restart MD. Restart the other one. See if it's working...?

Failing this... Use Force Reset Sync Settings and set up Sync again.

Hi Stuart, thanks for the info. Do I install the extension only on the master PC or on both PCs?
Reading between the lines, I think I only need the extension on the master file. There is no instruction about using it on the slave file.
Anyway, I'll leave the question in case there is something I missed.

Just on the primary/master and run it from there.....

Hi Stuart and others in the community,

I did the Force Push and restarted both Moneydance files and do not see the data transferred in either
    direction.

    I do observe something else:
master pc: syncing to i:\My Drive\mdsync
slave pc: synching to c:\Poi\My Drive\mdsync

But at slave pc, at c:\Poi\My Drive level, there are a bunch of *.mdtxn files that seem to belong to Moneydance but not
in the mdsync folder. In fact, they go all the way to 2001. If they are outside mdsync folder, they can be deleted as orphans
    from some other syncing operation?

    Thanks,

Personally, I would set up sync again from scratch.
    - shut down all non master MDs - on the master MD, run toolbox, force reset sync settings. - shut down MD - Rename the mdsync folder... to mdsync_old_delete_me. Create a new mdsync folder. - Launch MD, enable syncing to the shared folder mdsync. - On secondary, delete/rename the old xxx.moneydance dataset, then launch MD. At the Welcome screen, Create a New account set, Open Synced File, Shared Folder.... Away you go...

Thanks for your answer. I think the issues with syncing is too problematic and I have decided to break the synching and continue to use the secondary file going forward. I have a problem turning the sync off for the secondary file and will file a separate question for it. If you have some advice, hope you can weigh in.
    Thanks again.

In that sense, I will consider this issue closed.
