In my case, I am using the Account, Date and Tags criteria. The search finds an entry with the specified criteria, but when I attempt to generate a report, I get a "There is nothing to report!" box. However, if I use only the Account and Date criteria, I find the same entry and can generate a report. The report that is generated has an entry that includes the Tag used in the original search that included that criterion.

Please repair Advanced Search ASAP, as I depend on this function to quickly find related sets of entries and to assess the total value of those entries.
We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.

Unfortunately this is a known bug in Moneydance. There's an existing ticket in our ticketing system regarding this issue, so I've attached it to this discussion and the developers will be looking into it.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!

Hi crlinder

Possible one of the bug fix you are looking for.
Preview build 2022.5(4088) https://infinitekind.com/preview
Change log
* Fix category filtering in advanced search window

Hope this helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/545280722022-07-30T20:41:11Z2022-07-30T20:41:11ZAdvanced Search is not working on last Update

Thank you, Derek.

It does appear that the preview is supposed to fix the issue, although I'm generally leerly of installing beta software. Has anyone in this topic tried this preview build already?

crlindertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/545280722022-07-30T20:51:30Z2022-07-30T20:51:30ZAdvanced Search is not working on last Update

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi crlinder

I am happily running this preview build without any issues since it was released.
Always do a Moneydance Export Backup before any update.

Hope his helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/545280722022-08-04T15:02:05Z2022-08-04T15:03:07ZAdvanced Search is not working on last Update

Derek,

I downloaded and installed the latest beta for Moneydance, and the problem I originally reported is still occurring. When I use the combination of Account, Date and Tag, run the search and then Generate Report, it says there is nothing to display even though when I leave off the Tag part of the search and Generate Report, it shows an entry with the tag I originally specified.

I hope the developers are checking this thread so they know the problem has not been solved.

crlindertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/545280722022-08-19T14:22:56Z2022-08-19T14:23:52ZAdvanced Search is not working on last Update

I just installed the latest version of Moneydance (2022.5 (4091)), which says that the problem with Advanced Search has been fixed. Unfortunately, that isn't correct. I tried the combination of search fields that I originally reported a problem with, and I still get a "There's nothing to report!" dialogue even when there is one or more entries that match the conditions of the search.

Here's my original post about the problem:

I am using the Account, Date and Tags criteria.

Let me know that someone has seen this new post and that the issue is being addressed. Thanks!

crlindertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/545280722022-08-26T13:16:30Z2022-08-26T13:16:30ZAdvanced Search is not working on last Update

Anybody out there listening?

crlindertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/545280722022-08-26T13:20:05Z2022-08-26T13:20:05ZAdvanced Search is not working on last Update

Hello,

I'm sorry that I've still not solved this problem. Would you be able to send a screenshot of the transaction that appears in the search results when searching without that tag, and then another screenshot showing the search configuration with the tag included?

Thanks,

My apologies for the delayed reply. Our semester just started and I've been busy teaching. I've attached four screenshots that I think will make clear the problem I'm having when I conduct a search that uses three criteria vs. two.

three-criteria.search.result shows that the entries matching the criteria are found.

three-criteria.search.result.report shows that even though the entries are found, advanced search cannot output a report for them.

two-criteria.search.result shows that the entries matching the criteria are found just as they were for the three-criteria search.

two-criteria.search.result.report shows that a report is correctly generated for the two-criteria search (and includes the entries that should have been displayed in the three-criteria report.

Let me know if you have any questions after looking this over, and thanks for your help.

Has anyone heard anything about when/if the problem will be fixed?

crlindertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/545280722022-10-04T09:23:49Z2022-10-04T09:23:49ZAdvanced Search is not working on last Update

Hi Randy,

I'm sorry about the delayed response. The window and report should definitely be matching each other, but I wonder about one thing. It seems that the account selection and category selections are reversed from what I would expect them to be. Does everything work correctly if you select
Utilities:Electricity
in the category filter and then not select a specific account? I think that should work, because transaction tags are "directional" which means that a tag is present or not depending upon from which side (account or category) you are viewing the transaction.

Can you let me know if running the search + report that way works as you'd expect?

Thanks,
Sean
