Missing data

Hi,
Since I did the update a few days ago it looks as though a significant load of data has not been carried over. Firstly I guess, I need to recover it, can I do this and if so how? Secondly, has anyone else experienced this I wonder?

    The 'update' does not really change data or 'carry it over'... How do you know data is missing? What are you seeing? Can you send help/show console log?

    Hi Stuart,

    Thank you for the very prompt reply, I'm very grateful.

    This problem manifested itself this morning when I spotted that one of the "sub accounts" I use showed a substantial credit when it should have showed a close to zero balance which is what it slowed a few days ago. On investigation it looks as though data from some years ago has "vanished". You will have heard this before I'm sure (!!) but I don't believe I have doe anything that could have caused this. The easy way for me to rectify this is to just put in an adjustment but that doesn't feel the right thing to do.

    I'm not sure how I send you the help/show console log, can you advise me on that please?

    Also, what did you upgrade from / to version numbers?

    Also, if you look in Finder/Explorer, have you opened the right dataset? (not an old dataset/backup)?

    Hi,

    I'm on version 2022 4 (4087). I honestly don't know what was my previous version but I do keep up to date. I'm positive I'm using the right dataset.

    If I click on Help I see Console Window and don't see how I can send that to you, I don't see Show Console

    I can't see anything obvious... If this is the correct dataset:
    loading dataset: C:\Users\Noel.moneydance\Documents\Noel Main.moneydance
    then I think the quickest option might be to find the backup you would have taken before you did the upgrade... Do you have this?

    Try this. Install / run toolbox extension. Click find datasets. Search your whole disk for datasets and backups. Does it find anything?

    Also click the button analyse dataset and objects and past that output here too.

    Hi again Stuart,

    Unfortunately I didn't do a back up.

    I've just spotted something and have attached a screen shot which shows clearly that the app has not been calculating transaction values, this I think is whats gone wrong somehow? It's also missed off deposits.

    Are those bank accounts or categories? It looks like it should be a category? If so, which bank account is the main txn in?

    Are you sure you have the register sort orders right and/or no filters are applied. Do you have any screen shot that demonstrates the issue?

    I haven't changed anything at all from the settings I've had for many years. I'm grateful for your help and your patience today but I think I'd like to call a halt at this stage and come back to it tomorrow when I have a clearer mind!

    PS. I had an idea to prove your data is there. Install/run extract_data extension. Run that. Select extract_account_registers. Dump all your txns to a csv file. Open this file in excel. You will see if all your data is there.
