2022.4 4087 installer isn't running on Mac OS 12.3.1

I downloaded directly from the website... I run the dmg file and when I try to drag the money dance file into applications folder, the installer window disappears. It disappears just as I drag it onto the applications folder. Sometimes the installer window reappears, sometimes not.
For what it's worth; one other observation is that in the past the Moneydance file was always on the left, and the installer was always a little more cartoonish - this time its a very generic window, and the Moneydance file is on the right ... (and doesn't work).
Not sure what to do in this situation... suggestions?

You don't say what you have already tried...
I would suggest that the first things to do is delete the dmg file you have downloaded & download it again. Make sure you don't have your present MD app running in the background. Then before attempting to install restart your computer & try again.

I agree that redownloading makes sense. You may also want to try removing the existing Moneydance program from the Applications folder first, in case the system is somehow having trouble overwriting the program. Neither of those should make a difference, but I'm not quite sure what to suggest, since we haven't had similar reports of installation problems like this.

I moved MoneyDance out of the app folder and tried it with no success. I decided to restart, but first checked and found that I had an OS update (12.4). After that install, the DMG worked like it always has in the past. The “slide app to Application” window looked normal and it worked just fine.
Not sure if it was 12.3 or the restart… but it worked!
