Look to the following Moneydance KB article. If that is not helpful provide more details of the issue at hand.

Per the link to the KB article that I provided..

"To re-add an item, click the + symbol at the bottom left of the sidebar. You can use the 'Advanced' option within this menu to more easily add/remove multiple items."

Did you click the + symbol and add the BANKS subgroup back onto the left sidebar?

A reason that an account on the left sidebar may display a zero balance is that you designated the account as inactive.

While viewing the account in question, go to the Moneydance menu bar, click on Account > Edit Account. In the resulting form, you can check to see if the 'Inactive' box is ticked.

But NO BANKS

Abbie Tambertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/548658722022-07-01T23:12:36Z2022-07-02T23:08:02ZBank accounts missing

I'm a fellow user.

The heading BANKS will only appear in the side bat if there are banks set to list in the side bar, hence the instruction to select the plus (+) sign at the bottom of the side bar column and to select to add any banks into the side bar. As Kevin said the most common reason for a 0 new worth is that an account(s) has been set to be inactive.

If you do not see any banks look at the menu option Tools --> Accounts and see what accounts you have set up.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/548658722022-07-01T23:21:00Z2022-07-01T23:21:01ZBank accounts missing

Thanks for trying. Tools does not show any accounts either.
This will create a new empty data set with nothing in it.

I'm not sure what you mean when you write that "this one file is on my desktop." In general one can't merge Moneydance data files, if that's what you mean. Can you please explain the situation in a bit more detail? Feel free to attach screenshots if that's helpful. If you're not sure how to take a screenshot, please see http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/

If I open moneydance from the DESKTOP the data is there for the TRUST and I can get to the other accounts/files I have.
But if I open it from the icon on the bottom ribbon, that file/account opens up but is empty. I have removed the icon and replaced it.
Here’s a screen shot of my files. It is Trust 2019 that I’m trying to open. The other two are backups I restored but they are old!!!!!

Thanks.
Abbie

Abbie Tambertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/548658722022-07-03T21:24:04Z2022-07-03T21:24:04ZBank accounts missing

Thanks for the screenshots. I think the main issue is that you're confusing Moneydance data files with the program itself. The icon on your desktop is a Moneydance data file, as is any file that ends with the .moneydance file extension. The icons at the bottom of the screen are for programs. Opening the Moneydance program itself in this way could do a few different things, depending on your settings. The most common thing would be for it to open most recent file, but it may also do something like bring up the Welcome Screen to choose a data file.

My guess is that you're opening one of these other data files first, perhaps one of these backups. It's a bit worrying that you seem to have a few files with very similar names in the File -> Open menu, since that could lead to this kind of confusion, or you could end up adding data to different data files. It's probably worth trying to remove files that you don't actually need.

Do you know where your other data files are stored (beyond that one on the desktop)? If not, my guess is they are still in the default file location. You can quickly open that folder by going to Help -> Show Documents Folder from the Moneydance menu bar. If your files are there, you could try removing the ones that you don't need, like that one you write is blank. I'd recommend moving them to a new folder that you call something like Old Moneydance Files instead of deleting them. That way, in case you make a mistake in moving one, you can easily move it back.

That File -> Open option is primarily populated by the files that are in the folder. The files that you move out of there shouldn't be listed anymore when you start the program again.

I was able to figure out what was going on. I was able to move the Data file for the trust back to its needed location and removed the empty one.
ITS WORKING!
I have started to manual export backups since that is not working either but these works for me!!
Many thanks,
