Problem launching MD2010
OK, I upgraded to MD2010, the Java version is still showing 1.0.5_22, and I have no idea how to get Java 6 in there. I STILL have this problem in using the "File>Open Recent" option to open an encrypted file.
Help please.

nb please see the thread titled "NEW problem opening MD". Also cannot use "File>Open" to open this encrypted file. It opens just fine from finder, and also if it was the last file in use it opens just fine when the program is launched from the dock.

Hi, so I spoke with the lead developer. We're a little stumped about what's going on with the java versioning stuff, but at this point we don't know if java is even the problem. I am wondering if you could recreate your file->open recent error and send me your error log file and myself and the developer can take a look at it and see if from the error report we can figure out what this problem is. It depends on your OS but in the same directory as your Moneydance Folder there is a hidden folder called .Moneydance and in that hidden folder there is a file called errorlog.txt. If your not sure how to find hidden folders let me know your Operating System and I can tell you how. Please send me a copy of your most recent errors in that file after you have caused your error to happen. If there is any private data in that file (I don't think there will be, but I am not sure) please be sure to block it out, alternatively I could set this conversation to private and take it off the forums.
Ok, I look forward to seeing the error log and hopefully getting this issue sorted out.
Thanks,

Jon,
Thanks, I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8. I do NOT know how to view hidden folders.
Please be more specific when you say which folder I should be looking in. I have the MD program in applications, my backup files are in a folder under my user name, and my data files are in my documents folder.
Thanks for the help.

Please see my post under the other thread (NEW problem opening MD. My machine is definitely running Java 6, but MD is not recognizing it.

Ok, I apologize if I get this a little off as I don't use Macs but here's how to find it. It's located in your home folder in a file called '.moneydance'. (Note the . ) If you type in '~/.moneydance/' into your file browser that should open the hidden moneydance folder and in there you will find the error log. Hopefully, this will work, if it doesn't I'll track down our mac specialist and get him to give me the more specific description of this process.

Sorry, this isn't working. I don't find anything anywhere on my computer with .moneydance
I'm fairly new to macs too, so not as literate as I might be.

Hold the presses! I figured it out.
I'll generate the error and post the error log here.

OK here's the error log. This time it didn't hang the program, just wouldn't switch files. I tried twice before exiting normally:
Starting Moneydance 2010r2 (740)
Settings Folder: /Users/Lisa/.moneydance
OS: Mac OS X 10.5.8 i386
Java: 1.5.0_22 (Apple Inc.)
Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
Exiting Moneydance normally.

Hi,
So I've seen a similar error before and I believe that it is caused by
Moneydance running out of Memory that is allocated to it. I have an
unreleased preview version of Moneydance that you should probably try out.
Its set up to allocate more memory than Moneydance usually does. I've
attached the file for it.
Please let me know if this addresses your problem,

Jon,
This version of MD fixed the problem. So I guess it was not caused by the fact that my file encrypted, but that is very large??
Thanks for your help. BTW this version of MD still does not recognize that Java 6 is the preferred app on my machine.
