Hi Dave

If you cant retrieve exchange rates using Q & ER even with the source ECB try the extension Quote Loader.

Ensure the currencies rates you want to retrieve are displaced on the summary page in the Exchange Rates section. To display extra rates use TOOLS – CURRENCIES double click on subject currency – EDIT and tick box SHOW ON SUMMARY PAGE.
Install and run Quote Loader under EXTENSIONS.

ONE TIME SET UP
Ensure the PROCESS CURRENCY, RETRIEVE MISSED PRICES and OVERRIDE CURRENT PRICE boxes are ticked.
Set the source for listed currencies using dropdown to YAHOO HD
Click SAVE PARAMETERS.

NOW
Click GET EXCHANGE RATES.
Once rates are retrieved tick, CLICK TO SELECT ALL LINES and click SAVE SELECTED VALUES. see screen shot of Quote Loader just before clicking SAVE SELECTED VALUES.

For further information on the features of this extension and how to use see post 259 at

Download the PDF’s attached to post 259 and have a read.

To get an overview take a look at the YouTube videos by using the links on page 1 and 2 of the PDF.

The Quick Start Video is intended to give a quick overview so the user can see if Quite loader looks like it could work for them. The Short Video expands the user’s knowledge giving more detail. The Full Video goes even further but may be to wordy for some.
The PDF reinforces what’s leaned in the videos, provides step by step instructions, a must read and provide answers on how to handle less obvious issues some users may come across.

Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/553899222022-08-18T15:29:07Z2022-08-18T15:29:08ZCurrency rates

Thank you so much for your support and help. I am nearly there (I think). I
have done as you suggested and I have an exchange rate on my summary page
but, How do I know whether the rate is from dollars or Euros to the pound
sterling? as there is only 1 line of figures on the Loader and that is in
sterling, (yours is in US, Canadian and Euros), and I don't see how to add
currencies so how does it know I want it quoted in Euros? The loader is set
to update on start up but the price is staying the same although there are
small changes every few seconds in the markets. Maybe I should just wait
and see if it has changed tomorrow?
KInd regards Dave

Dave Faircloughtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/553899222022-08-18T16:28:00Z2022-08-18T16:28:00ZCurrency rates

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Dave

All Exchange Rates in Quote Loader and on the Summary Page Exchange Rates section relate to the Base Currency of the Data Set.
In my example my Base currency is British Pounds. The New Price (Exchange Rate) for USD in Quote Loader is returned as 1.1998 thus One British Pound = 1.1998 US Dollars.

On the Summary Page clicking the 1/X changes how the exchange rate is expressed.
Either One British Pound = 1.19978881 US Dollars
Or One US Dollar = 0.83348001887099 British Pounds
See screen shot.

You may be misinterpreting the setting AT START UP. This setting only comes into play if you are setting the AUTOMATIC RUN TYPES see PDF for more details.
If you are triggering retrieving Rates manually you click the GET EXCHANGE RATE button to get a snap shot. Clicking GET EXCHANGE RATE button again after waiting for the source to have time to update will update the rate. Not sure why you would want to do this a frequent intervals.

Any other questions just post.

checking the updates frequently was to see if it was working properly
Thanks again for all your help Dave

Dave Faircloughtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/553899222022-08-18T18:02:33Z2022-08-18T18:02:33ZCurrency rates

I am not support staff, just a user.
