I am using the trial version of Moneydance. I have used both Quicken and Money in the past but I do not seem to have the wherewithall to use Moneydance. I created a bank account in Money dance. I tried importing and then just dragging the data files onto the account page. Nothing happened with either method. The account does not take the data. They are 2 ofx files about 6-8 kb in size with my monthly account activity downloaded from my checking account. I am using Windows 7 os. What am I doing wrong? Do you have a page like Moneydance for dummies somewhere on your website?

Are you trying to import data from a qif or ofx file into MD? If so did you try this:

Once you have Moneydance open (i.e. you can see the home page) go to the File > Import and select the type of file you want to import. A dialogue box will open displaying the files with that match the file extension you chose (i.e. ".qif", ".ofx", ".ofc"). Select the file you want to import and then MD will ask you to select an account to import to. Make that selection and you have imported the data to the account.

If this isn't what you were trying to achieve, please post again.

Thank you so much for your reply. For some reason when it opens to ask me
what account I wished to put the data in it first lists the account # for
the account I was importing data to and then showed the arrows below. I was
clicking on the account number and not the arrows so no other choice was
offered. I accidentally hit the arrows and the choices opened up with the
name of the account and I was able to download the data after clicking on
the account name. I still don't know why the account number is listed before
I click on the arrows. But I can work around it. Appreciate your help and
prompt reply. I was ready to go back to a pencil and paper.

I believe the last file you imported to shows up the next time you open the import dialogue box (rather than have it as an empty box).
