Characters in front of values
I have just upgraded to the latest version and find that when I copy to clipboard and then paste into Excel that many of my values appear as follows
£ 0.00
They just show as values in the reports.
Can you tell me why and if I can get rid of them as they stop Excel from recognising them as values?
Many thanks Brian

Hi Brian,
We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.
You may want to try the following workaround:
After generating the report, choose 'Save'.
Change the 'Format' to 'Comma Delimited'- Encoded for Excel
Then click 'Browse' and specify where you want to save the file.
Before saving, check the correct file format has been applied. Your file should be called 'YourFileName.csv'.
If the file format is not included, you can add '.csv' (without the quotes) to the end of the file name.
This will create a comma delimited file that will open with Excel.
If you have already saved the file, you can navigate to it on your computer, and re-name the file from there, to include .csv at the end of the file name.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

Hi Maddy
Many thanks for your prompt reply.
I have already done as you suggested but as you will be aware that is an extra step in the process which was not there before.
The intriguing thing to me is that it does not happen to all values which seems inconsistent and might help identify the problem. I will be interested to hear if you get to the bottom of the problem and resolve it though.
Many thanks Brian

Of course, Brian!
Two things you may want to try:
Changing the 'Theme' and 'Font' (in turn) under Preferences->Appearance and restart Moneydance.
The extension Extract Data available from Extensions->Manage Extensions->Extract Data
This extension is a useful tool aiming to extract your data to screen/csv. Options incl: 'StockGlance2020' investments, Reminders, Account / Investment transactions, Currency History; Attachments.
So, you can download your data to Excel where you can filter, sort etc.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I have tried all the themes and different fonts and other options but none make any difference. I had loaded the extension you suggested but that has not changed anything either. Hey ho!
Regards Brian

It’s simply that there is an internal ‘tweak’ that the developers need to make to the copy to clipboard function to encode the ‘utf8 BOM’ and pre-pend to the data so that Excel can open extended characters (such as the £ sign) in the right format. They’ve made the change to the save in excel format, but not this option yet. Until then, you are stuck.
NOTE: this has always been an issue on Mac, but recently the Java default changed and it’s now also an issue on Windows too.

Hence the save to file in excel format that’s available and then double click the csv file to open is the best bet for now
(Or use excel file/replace)
