Can't Locate Existing MD File After Upgrade

I just upgraded my MD app on my Mac which is running OS X 10.8.2. When I launch MD, it doesn't recognize that I have an existing account but instead queries as to whether I want to 1) create a new account, 2) open and existing account, 3) import a .qif file, or 4) import from QEM. My first question is, since I'm doing an upgrade, why is it even asking me this question? When I try to select either option 2 or 3, I'm unable to locate where my existing file is located. When I do a search on .qif files, the files listed including a backup that is less than an hour old are greyed out not allowing to select them. If I search for .moneydance files, I am able to select and open my most recent backup using either option 2 or 3, but get a JAVA error message in both cases. How do I get MD to use my existing account file and where can I locate it? Note: When I upgraded MD, I used the "Convert and Import" option.

Ethan, Thanks for your reply. When I search .md files in Documents (anywhere else on my Mac), I again get a recent backup file listed, but it is greyed-out. In other words, I can't select it. Also, you mentioned selecting "open other". This is not one of the options I have listed. Please refer to my original for the 4 options I'm given. Greg
