Save to a txt file and then upload that txt file to this post.

Then…:

Select each one and then uninstall.

Restart. Any better?

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/558538222022-09-24T23:07:23Z2022-09-24T23:07:25ZStuWareSoft Systems extension installing - hung app, spinning beachball

Hi Stuart, thanks for jumping on this!

I 'forced quit' moneydance and restarted it. Everything worked after the restart. I attached a console file as requested but it looks like Moneydance overwrote the previous console file which might have had something useful. Too bad Moneydance doesn't save at least the previous one in addition to writing the 'current' one.

I'm still curious if it's possible to start Moneydance with a flag or something that prevents extensions from being loaded.

Thanks,
This "spinning beachball" failure was when I initially launched Moneydance this afternoon. I have not made changes to the configuration of Moneydance recently and was simply trying to resume working on my finances. I couldn't get the help menu or any menus to activate.

Robert Wintertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/558538222022-09-25T04:21:52Z2022-09-25T04:21:52ZStuWareSoft Systems extension installing - hung app, spinning beachball

No you cannot launch MD with a flag to bypass extensions.

You do have references to old extns. Can you run toolbox, update mode, general tools, fix orphan extensions (or something like that).

I see you have a lot of Dropbox connection errors - e.g.:
“Writing file to dropbox API with debug mode=false warning: unable to check for existence of tiksync/delete_to_push_sync_info in local storage; not a good sign”

This may be a slow/erratic network connection. This will cause MD to appear sluggish etc.

I would install DB client, check it works, then switch to MD Dropbox folders for a much better experience. Then restart.

Perhaps if that’s ok, then reinstall custom balances, restart and post a new console log here.

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/558538222022-09-25T04:35:52Z2022-09-25T04:35:52ZStuWareSoft Systems extension installing - hung app, spinning beachball

PPS.

If you force quit MD then grab the log using finder and upload before you launch MD. It can be found here:
'/Users/robert/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt'

I do see this:
“net_account_balances.py(Extension) initialisation routines ending...... initialized extension net_account_balances in 5.819 seconds”. And it really shouldn’t take 6 seconds. Perhaps we can debug that after you finish the above points.

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/558538222022-09-29T18:33:38Z2022-09-29T18:33:40ZStuWareSoft Systems extension installing - hung app, spinning beachball

I just had the exact same thing happen. I open the app daily and had never seen it until now. It did load eventually.

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

This is from a graphing widget. Are you using MoneyForesight?

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/558538222022-09-29T19:07:05Z2022-09-29T19:07:05ZStuWareSoft Systems extension installing - hung app, spinning beachball

Try this. can you disable the bundled Foresight extension/feature. To do this, preferences, summary page, find foresight and remove it from left and right views. Save. Restart md. Grab and post a new console.

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/558538222022-09-29T20:21:37Z2022-09-29T20:21:39ZStuWareSoft Systems extension installing - hung app, spinning beachball

Thanks Stuart, sorry about that. I'd assumed it was the custom balances plugin as that was showing as loading for quite a while.

I am a heavy foresight user yes. On restarting the app it seems to be behaving now.

New console is attached.

obbiie
