Error importing the file from MD 2012r2(803) to MD2012.5(862)
Hi,
After upgrading MD 2012r2 (803) to MD 2012.5(862), while I try to
open and convert my MD file, there is an error : "There was an
error importing the file, please try again".
Is there a solution ?
Many thanks,
Vincent

Hi Vincent,
We have on occasion seen this problem come up and it is fixable, though the solution may depend. For starters can you tell me what the full name of the file you want to import is?
Sincerely,

Trying different way. I moved my file to another location and it finally convert and open it.
However, now when I tried to move this new file from the library location to my previous location, MD didn't open it... (I followed the instruction described on the site)....
The name of my old file was : "money.md"
Thanks,
VIncent

Hi Vincent,
Are you using File -> Open -> Open Other or selecting Open Other from the welcome screen in order to open it?
Sincerely,

Hi Vincent,
Would you be willing to send me a screen shot of what you are seeing when you try to open the file?
To take a screenshot, press at the same time in this order: Command (Apple Key) + Shift + 3.
This will place the screenshot on your desktop.
Now either in an email or on the web forum you can attach that image and send it to us.
Thanks.

Hi,
Included the screenshot.
It is surprising that the file act as a folder and when I selected the money.moneydance or the root.mdinternal, nothing happens and the welcome screen was again...

Hi Vincent,
While you have Money.Moneydance highlighted/selected, what happens if you press the Open button?

Vincent,
I'm sorry that this problem is persisting.
Could you please try a few more things.
Find this file in Finder and open up Moneydance. Try and drag the file into Moneydance from Finder.
If that doesn't work what happens if you double click on the .Moneydance file or the Root.mdinternal file?
Thanks.
Sincerely,

Hi Vincent,
Are there any special characters (as in, non english characters) in any of the folders that eventually contain your money.moneydance bundle? If so, that may be causing the issue with the file not opening as Moneydance has some issues with files and folders with non-english characters in them. From your screenshot, it looks like the folder containing money.moneydance may have an e with an accent on it, which may be the cause of the issue. Can you try moving the money.moneydance bundle to a folder without any special characters, including in its parent folders, and see if it opens then?

I moved the files to Users/XXX/Documents and it works.
Many thanks for this support.
See you.

Hi.
I had the same behaviour.
Having "Contabilità" in the folder path works in Windows t but not in Mac OS X Mountain Lion.
Has this been filed as a bug?

Hi Vincent,
Glad to hear that it's working now!
Renato,
I just filed a ticket for it, so the developers will be looking into it!
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!
