please find the link to this discussion here. Normally you should receive an email for each update/post added to the discussion.

In order to be able to investigate this issue further, could you send us the contents of your error console generated immediately after you have tried to print a PDF attachment? Here's how to get the logs:

1) In Moneydance, click on the Help menu and select the Console Window option. This will open the console messages window.
2) While the Console Window is open, attempt to print an attachment. Any error messages should be recorded to the Console.
3) Select all of the text in the Console and use the "Copy to Clipboard" button at the bottom to copy the text.
4) Paste the text from the message window into a text file (preferably saved with a .txt extension) and attach that file to your response here.

Thank you

Printing from the xxx Desktop uses Java methods to print, …….
This exception occurs because the JVM used on Linux has been coded to use '/usr/bin/lpr' as the system command, but the 'lpr' command may exist in another location on your system, such as 'usr/local/bin/lpr'. It is currently not possible to change the location where the JVM looks.
As a workaround, you can create a symbolic link, so that '/usr/bin/lpr' points to the actual location of the 'lpr' command on your system.

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/560555322022-10-18T19:12:17Z2022-10-18T19:12:17ZLinux - Printing reports

Thanks.

Support responses to this discussion were diverted to my junk mail folder. Bad, but now fixed.

Stuart's direction in the 2 previous comments were on target. From my terminal command line the entry
sudo apt-get install cups-bsd did the trick. Report print dialog continues to show my printer (probably from prior CUPS install), but it is designated as "color" which cannot be changed but does allow duplex printing. The report prints negative numbers in a very light grayscale. I guess that is CUPS issue ... or does Moneydance coding have some control over the printer dialog?

So my initial printing problem has been solved ... just the finer points to address.

I'm seriously considering selling the Brother DCP-L2540DW and going with an HP which I've read uses HPLIP for it's IPP printing (HP Laserjet Pro MFP234sdwe)

donaldsperotag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/560555322022-10-18T19:15:36Z2022-10-18T19:15:36ZLinux - Printing reports

👍

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)
