show documents folder shows empty folder, show backup folder does nothing.
I have moved the Moneydance documents folder (containing my finances file) from its default location to a new location, and Moneydance finds it in its new location. However, Help/Documents Folder just shows an empty folder in the original location. Help/Backup Folder does absolutely nothing.
I've started and closed Moneydance several times, but it doesn't show any likelihood to getting it right.

Yup - that shows you the internal fixed location, not reality. Use Toolbox extension, top right, open MD folder, open Dataset location to see the real location

I saw in discussions that Toolbox is a Mac thing.
I should have said that I am on a Windows 11 system.

I found Toolbox in Extensions and installed it. It put three things into the Extensions list: two for selecting and moving transactions, and the third just 'Toolbox'.
When I click on Toolbox, the list is dismissed and nothing else happens.

What version of MD are you running?
Can you restart, try again, and then send the output from Help/Console?

That's a new one! The message is:
"The file: G:\Moneydance files doesn't exist." yet your dataset is located at
"H:\Moneydance files\Documents\DandT Finances.moneydance"
Do any extensions work? Can you try extract_data?
Any clues as to what G: is referring to?

Actually, at this point have you clicked Extensions, Toolbox.. Do you get any new errors in console after that?
I would like to fix this... Can you email me offline at the following so we can debug?

H is a USB3 stick which now contains the Documents folder.
G is what the stick used to be assigned with until today, and somehow the stick was assigned the H drive.
G is a USB drive with nothing attached, and I have just got rid of it by ejecting it.
Thje Security Price Entry extension works, as do Find & Replace, Quotes and Exchange Rates.
Extract Data appears to work, it puts up a list of Options to choose from.

.. OK, this error:
is not caused by Toolbox, but by clicking on the Help/Show Backup Folder menu option and my guess is that your backups are still set to G:

Rather than mess around with that script, install the latest toolbox from here:

install that, then try to run it, then send me latest help/console...

I didn't say that, the new Toolbox screen did appear, and I saved and sent the Help/Console after it appeared.

So what's changed between then and now....? What happens if you click on Help/Show Backup Folder? Does that still error?
Have you by any chance 'fixed' your backup location in File/Preferences?
Do you have any outstanding issues/questions?

I entered the success status on a post to the discussion but it seems to have disappeared.
Toolbox shows the documents folder, Moneydance Help/ShowBackup shows the Backup folder. And I have sorted out where my files are located, in particular, the main document file is off my PC and on removable storage, along with the backup folder.
(Some years ago, my PC was stolen in a burglary and it contained all my dairy and financial data and passwords file. None of that is on my PC now.)
So, thank you for all your help, I think the issue can be closed now.
