Since October 2022, the quotes update extension has stopped working. Why?

Hi dcfraser1
There are two methods within Moneydance for obtaining security prices and exchange rates automatically.
The extension “Quote and Exchange Rate Updater” found under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS. Check you are running the latest build v1033. For exchange rates use the source European Central Bank. Alpha Vantage covers the US as well as some securities outside the US, but is very, very slow and problematic. Yahoo is available as a source. It’s my understanding that the source IEX Trading no longer works.
If the Quote and exchange rate updater does not work well for you try the better alternative extension Quote Loader under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSION
Currently build 3058
For information on the features of this extension and how to use see post 332 at

Download the PDF’s attached to post 332and have a read.
To get an overview take a look at the YouTube videos by using the links on page 1 and 2 of the PDF.
Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post.
Hope this helps.

Hi Derek,
Thank you for your email.
I have been trying the Quote Loader extension you recommended and it does
seem to be a better option for updating quotes.
Is there anything that can be done for error messages relating to
instruments in the portfolio for which prices are not supported (I have 3
securities that are not covered and keep getting an update error message).
Not a major issue, but a little irritant
Thanks for your help.
Regards

If you do not want Quote Loader to try to get a price select "Do Not Load" under the source.

Hi dcfraser1
As stated by dwg setting the source of any securities that produce an error to "Do Not Load" will prevent a warning during Auto Run.
If you can for the three securities that do not return prices provide the ticker, full security name, last price you have and its traded currency as well as the currency you work in, Base Currency, I can check if they are supported or not.
Hope this helps.

Hi Derek,
Thanks for your advice. However, I can't find the option for "Do Not Load"
The three securities are:
ALCZ Alcon Inc £60.3650 26/1/23 Swiss Francs
KNEBH Kone OYJ £45.0476 5/1/23 Euros
NOVNZ Novartis AG £72.8380 26/1/23 Swiss Francs
I work in £ Sterling

Hi dcfraser1
I am having problems with the tickers on all three the last letter is the issue.
Could it be that:
ALCZ = ALC
KNEBH = KNEBV
NOVNZ = NOVN
See screen shot.
Some of these companies are traded on a number of exchanges so I took a guess on the exchange you are using. Let me know if they look wrong and if you know the exchanges they are traded on that would help.
Not all three require an Exchange (Exch Mod) to be set.
As for "Do Not Load" click in the Source field of the security you want to set to "Do Not Load" and in the drop down that opens its at the top of the list.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Derek,
That has indeed allowed prices to be loaded. However, for some reason that
I cannot understand, the updated price is not included in the record for
the security within the portfolio on Moneydance.

Hi David.
If you retrieved the prices by clicking GET PRICES the next steps to save the prices to Moneydance is to select individuals lines you want to save or tick CLICK TO SELECT ALL LINES then SAVE SELECTED LINES.
The main reason a price would not be saved is if you have Duplicate Securities under TOOLS – SECURITIES, that use the same Ticker Symbol. If you believe this is the case I can make some suggestion on how to sort this out.
Hope this helps.
