Issue with child windows in dual-monitor Mac OS X Ventura

Seems to have cleared up. Not sure what I did to fix it, but I've been putzing with the OS settings so may have done something.
Never mind.
This is a small but annoying problem. I just upgraded my Mac mini to a new Apple M2 version, going from OS X Monterey to Ventura in the process. MD runs just fine, but it no longer seems to remember either the size or location of common child windows, such as Reminders or reports from the Summary screen. Even the "Split" window opens on the complete opposite side from the main MD window.
Is there a setting for this, or a simple fix? Thanks.
