How to delete Accounts in Summary when no longer active ?

There are some options to not show an account in the Summary when it is no longer being used and the balance is zero. I have ticked both boxes but accounts are still showing. I cannot outright delete the account as all past history is also deleted. Any help would be appreciated.

   Hi Stuart

   To make an account inactive highlight the account in the Side Bar, list on the left and tick the Inactive box under TOOLS – ACCOUNTS – double click subject account – EDIT. This remove the account from the Summary page.
   Right click on the account in the Side Bar and select “Remove from Side Bar”. To add an account back in click the “+” at the bottom of the Side Bar.

   It worked perfectly! Would you believe I had been trying to remove accounts that were no longer active fore at least 18 months!
