Trying to locate backup files
I upgraded this morning and yes, I forgot to export my data file before upgrading. I had it set to retain the last five backups. I can only see one backup file from today and it is not accurate. I am using iCloud for syncing between my MacBook and iPhone. I used the feature within Moneydance to see the backup files but I am only seeing one and not five. I am hoping that I didn't lose two months worth of data. Help?

Hi Terry
Install Toolbox extension from EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS run Toolbox and use the feature FIND MY DATASET(S) AND BACKUPS.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. I followed the instructions from below and all I am seeing is the file that I attempted to restore from yesterday which is about three months old. I do not see any older backups. Thankfully the data on my iphone is correct. Is there anyway to sync from the mobile app to my MacBook without having to re-enter data from December and January?

Hi Terry
Try FILE – NEW – OPEN SYNCED FILE and set up syncing using the same sync password as you original used.
Hope this helps.

That was it. Thank you for the assistance. I was dreading having to redo transactions for a few months.
I learned my lesson regarding backing up before upgrading

Hi Terry
Glad that worked for you.
I have been using Moneydance since 2016 and never had a problem after a upgrade, so you were unlucky.
I would check the backup location under FILES – PREFERENCES – BACKUPS and preferable set the backup location to a cloud server such as Dropbox in case you have computer hard drive problems. Just check the backups are being created.
The other thing is when you sync you have a Primary and a Secondary data set. The way your data set was recovered it would be a secondary data set. You can use the Toolbox extension installed from EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS to convert from a secondary data set to a primary data set. On running Toolbox it should inform you that you are running a secondary data set which you can convert.
Hope this helps.

What would the steps be taken to convert from a secondary set to a primary data set?
I did run the toolbox and it confirmed that I am running a secondary set
Thank you

That popup alert actually tells you..? no?
Anyway, toolbox, top bar, click enable update (or update mode).. Agree...
Then click the new button that appears to promote to primary..
OK?
