MD 2010r2 build 735 failed to close

MD Team,

SNOW LEOPARD environment - I had an issue earlier this evening where after about 6 hours of work, the app failed to close. I tried to close the app via three different methods: the drop down menu, the right click on the dock icon, & the red light in the application window - none of these worked. Also, the system would take about 2-3m when switching from any account over to the Root Account. Moving to other accounts seemed ok but when trying the Root Account, it took a long time. The latter behavior began only after the close failure popped up.

I ended up saving the file and then forcing the quit which seemed to work fine...no apparent data corruption or any other issues resulted from the forced closure.

Sp the reason I am starting this thread is to see if there are diagnostic tools or ideas you folks may have so I can grab some data for further analysis in the event the issue occurs again. I did check the console but nothing of interest was there.

Thanks in advance.

Moneydacne comes with a built in error console. If you select Help->Console window you will see all the error messages and possibly stack traces. If the problem occurs again please copy and paste the contents of the console window to this thread.

    Sincerely

OK - the issue happened again today but this time it's even worse - the app is completely locked -won't close, won't respond, nothing. Also, the app wouldn't even let me cut and paste from the Java console so I took screen shots which are attached.

The issue began when I was going through the overdue reminders in the Root Account window. I was going through and selecting a few to post to the ledger and after about 20 of them, the app locked.

    Hi all,

What version of Moneydance are you using? You can find out your version by going to the Help Menu and choosing the About Moneydance option. If you are not using the most recent version (2010r2 build 743), please update to that version. You can download the update here. This update has resolved a few key issues our users have been experiencing, including some memory problems. Please let me know if your issue persists and we will look into other solutions.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.

Thanks Jessica - I've been running this since March 4th and all is well thus far. Will report back in about a week or so if it continues to run fine - otherwise, I will be back sooner because the issue popped up again.

Also, will this release become FCS at some point?

Glad to hear it's working. I just talked to Sean, and he said it's likely that we'll be making another release after we fix a couple of bugs with reporting. So, soon, very soon. :-)

I am having lockup issues that leave no option but to force shutdown through the Windows Task Manager. I am running Windows 7 64-bit on a machine with Intel core2 Quad processor and 6 gigs of ram. Moneydance 2010r2 (735).

I can enter one transaction with no problem but when I try to enter the second it locks up, usually when I hit the "enter" key. If I close the program after each transaction and then rerun the program for each new transaction I can get them entered eventually. Not fun.

Thanks Ben. I updated to Build 746 and entered several new transactions. So far, the freezing issue did not recur.
