upgrade not accepting old keycode
I've been using and upgrading Moneydance for several years and rarely have a problem.
This morning i clicked on the notification about there being an upgrade, gave the site my keycode and was told that i was eligible for a free upgrade,
however after downloading and installing the new version it does not recognise my keycode. F6xxxxxxx
are you able to help with this?
kind regards,
Terry

I'm a fellow user
F63xxxxx is a Moneydance 2021 license it will work with Moneydance versions 2021 & 2022, I suspect you have installed the preview release of Moneydance 2023 with the result that the license would be invalid.
The upgrade notice advises if a new version is available, I do not believe it tests if your license is valid for the version.

I'm having the same issue.
I clicked on the upgrade link which took me to the website.
I entered my licence key and the website checked and confirmed that I qualified for a free upgrade, see attached.
However upon downloading and installing 2023 the product is in trial mode and the licence key is showing as invalid.

I'm experiencing the same problem with a licence code that begins F63. I tested this code on the upgrade page and received the advice that the latest version was a free upgrade. I used the link provided to download the Mac OS version and experienced the same result as the OP.

THere is no where in the upgrade notes that states this is a demo or trial version

That is correct, so “We have a problem, Houston”:.

lucky I had an old install version of 2022.6

Yeah, same here. Years of applying dubious software updates teaches you to make contingency plans.
I hope the issue is resolved ASAP but I can live with the previous version …...

Check for updates after reinstalling old version. Mine had the message below even though the upgrade page said free upgrade was available.

Funny mine didn’t

I think this needs to be addressed though. My license key still gets this result.
"Your license key entitles you to a free upgrade to Moneydance 2023! Simply download the latest version and organize your finances with little effort."

My licence key returns the same response.
I agree, this needs to be sorted and I’m sure support will provide a resolution in due course.

I have the same issue this morning

I'm glad I'm not alone with this issue. I've been using moneydance since since 2010 an this is the first time I've had issue.

I have the same problem and can no longer post new transactions as the product is in demo mode.

Same issue. Web site states I am eligible for a free upgrade, but my license key doesn't work.

Same issue. Web site says free upgrade. Old licence key does not work

Same issue here. Website confirmed entitled to free upgrade - installed, now I am unregistered.
For info, I get this same issue on my Windows desktop version and the linux version on my Chromebook.

Hi All,
I'm very sorry for my error on this! The license checker on the web site is reporting upgradability status for Moneydance 2022 instead of 2023. I'm working on repairing this and will post an update here when it is fixed, along with a solution for those affected.
Thanks,
Sean

Hi all,
Ok, the problem with the license key checker saying you had a free upgrade when it wasn't it you were giving it a license key for Moneydance 2021. If you were affected by this and have already purchased a license when you wouldn't have otherwise, please send the email address that you used to make the purchase to me at sreilly(at)infinitekind.com and I'll give you a refund if it happened before now.
If you have installed Moneydance 2023 and haven't yet purchased an upgrade, and wouldn't have installed the update if it weren't free then you can revert to the latest version of Moneydance 2022 (or any older version) from this page:
https://infinitekind.com/previous-versions-of-moneydance
Moneydance 2023 is completely backwards compatible with Moneydance 2022 data files, so there is no risk inn downgrading.
I am so sorry for the mix-up!
Thanks,
Sean

Hi Sean,
I’m confused…
Are you saying that the upgrade is free or do users have to purchase the upgrade?
Regards
Dave Clements

Hi Dave,
If you've already purchased an upgrade after the license checker said you had a free upgrade, then I'll refund the cost of your purchase, if you purchased before my message above.
Whether the upgrade is free or not depends on the last time you purchased Moneydance. If you had purchased Moneydance 2022 (or an upgrade to it) then you get a free upgrade to 2023. If you last purchased Moneydance 2021 or earlier then you get a discounted upgrade.
Thanks,
Sean

So to confirm, 2021 license owners either need to pay you $30 for an upgrade license, or roll back to 2022?

Thanks Sean.
I was using a 2021 version so have purchased and am using a new license. Problem solved.
Thanks again
Dave

Hi Sean,
I must have been using the 2021 version: I paid the upgrade fee and am now up and running. I take it that purchasing or renewing a licence gives you an additional free upgrade?
Regards
Dave

Yes, unless you had already purchased the upgrade in which case you can keep it and I'll refund the cost.
Thank you, Dave :)
Yes, exactly :)
