NO RESPONSE YET FROM IK to Bug Report: Search bar incorrectly interpreting characters in MD 2023 v. 5005

Hi all.

I just updated to the latest version of MD 2023 (5005) on my iMac running OS Ventura 13.3. While on the Summary page, I typed a search phrase that included my name (George) and the letter D. In the search field, the D was shown with a vertical mark in it, as was the G in my name (see attached screen shot). A few seconds later, MD "fixed" both these letters, but backspacing within the search field to start over inserted a bunch of garbage characters that I had not typed, and the search itself failed.

Update April 26 -- This isn't a particularly bad bug, but after a month, I'm still hoping that someone from IK would respond.

An IK staff response would be appreciated.

Two months without any response from Customer Service at IK --That's what dealing with Intuit used to be like in the Quicken days. C'mon, Moneydance staff. IF you don't have a fix, couldn't youmanage an apology or an excuse?

Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies for the lack of response to your query.
Unfortunately, your request for assistance was missed by the support and I'm truly sorry for the negligence you've experienced.

The display issue you have reported seems to affect certain Mac systems and usually, it can be easily resolved by changing the Moneydance Theme (from Preferences) to Flat Dark.

You may want to restart Moneydance for the changes to be applied fully.

If the problem persists, you could try resetting your Moneydance preferences by renaming your config.dict file.

Please take note of your license key and save it, separately as you will need to re-register later.

The file should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:

    ~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/config.dict

    or:

    ~/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/config.dict

If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder, open Finder and select Go --> Go to Folder --> and copy and paste in exactly the following:

    ~/Library

This will pull up your local Library folder, and you can navigate to the locations above.

Once you've found your config.dict file, close Moneydance fully.

Then rename the file to config2.dict

Once you've done this, open Moneydance again. It will appear as though you've just installed the program for the first time, so you'll see the Welcome window.
Your data file should be listed on the right of the window. If not, choose 'Open Other' and navigate to your data file.
When you're viewing your data file, choose Help --> Register Moneydance and input your license key.

Lastly, if you already own a license for Moneydance 2023 (I couldn't locate it with the email address: [email blocked]) we would recommend updating your version of Moneydance to Moneydance 2023.1 (5006) which is the latest stable version.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

Thanks, Maddy. I will go through the sequence you described. If it works, I won't make any additional comments in this thread. I do have a license for 2023, but it's under a different email address from my previous Yahoo spam-collecting address. You'll find it in a Paddle order dated January 26, 2023. If you'd like I can email a copy of that order with the S/N to you but I'd rather not post it here.
