Can't sync iPhone app with 2012.5 desktop
After installing the 2012.5 desktop on my Mac OSX I can't get my iPhone 5 to sync. I've deleted the app and reinstalled it on the iPhone. When I start the app on the iPhone, it opens on the Sync Options page, I tap Wifi, and it tells me to start MD on the desktop, add the extension, then select Extensions > Configure Network Syncing. I have deleted the extension, and reinstalled it and selected Extensions > Configure Network Syncing, but it tells me there is no device running mondydance. Both devices are side by side and connected to the same wifi network.

Where did you obtain your release of Moneydance for OS X?
Did you obtain it from http://infinitekind.com/downloads ?
Or
Did you obtain it from Apple's App Store?
Also, with Moneydance on your Mac launched, select File->Syncing and be sure that it looks like the attached screenshot.

OK, if I go to File > Syncing it looks like the screen you showed above. However, I do not see how to do wifi syncing on that screen.

A previous reply of mine seems to be missing above. I downloaded the 2012.5 using the update from your web site, not from the app store. Something I followed from Facebook or the update option on the app itself.

Just the network Synchronizer extension utilizes WiFi syncing. Just needed to make sure that the internal Dropbox to iOS sync mechanisim was off.
At this point I will have to bow out and ask that somebody with the WiFi sync setup knowledge take over.
I've gone as far as I can.
I know you'll get synced back up.

Hi jshowalt,
If you aren't specifically committed to using Wifi syncing, I would recommend switching to Dropbox syncing. There are some network configurations where Wifi doesn't work in a way that we're unable to fix, which is one reason we recommend switching to Dropbox syncing, along with being more robust, more stable, and able to work anywhere. As well, it's also very secure, being encrypted end-to-end between the Moneydance application and the Moneydance iOS app, so your data is never stored on Dropbox unencrypted, and only a subset of your data is stored on Dropbox, which is just the amount necessary for syncing (not everything).
If you'd still prefer to use Wifi syncing, we'll do the best we can to fix it, but we unfortunately can't guarantee that we'll be able to get it working. If you'd like to try anyway, can you send us the output of your console log? This can be found by going to Help -> Console window in Moneydance, then clicking the "Copy to clipboard" button and pasting the output to us here.

I don't now and don't plan to use Dropbox. I am posting the Console window output below:

Hi jshowalt,
I'm wondering if this is an issue with Java. If you have your data set(s) stored in Moneydance's internal Documents folder, can you go to Help -> Show Documents Folder, then close Moneydance and move the data set(s) to a different folder outside of Moneydance's internal location (like to the Documents folder in your Home directory, for example). After doing that, then download the 10.6 and below version of Moneydance 2012 from here:
http://infinitekind.com/downloads
This version is identical to the 10.7 and above version, but uses your system Java (which is most likely Apple's) instead of Moneydance's bundled Java, along with a few other minor differences. After that, launch the 10.6 and below version of Moneydance, use the Open Other button on the Welcome screen or File -> Open -> Open Other function in the main Moneydance window and open your data set(s) that you moved from the 10.7 and above version of Moneydance, then see if Wifi syncing works again. If not, please send us the console log again and we'll see if we can figure out what's going on.
You may need to re-enter your license key and reconfigure Moneydance after switching to the 10.6 and below version.

What you propose sounds like too much effort with too much downside. Since the iPhone app is just a minor convenience to me, I would rather not risk the loss of the desktop, but will instead forgo the app.
I did install Apple's new Java update and now the console window is somewhat different from what I sent you before. I am attaching that below. Hopefully someone else will make the gamble to get the wifi sync to work, but I cannot afford to lose my desktop for any period while trying to work out this bug.
The new console window:
Starting Moneydance 2012.5 (862) at Sun Mar 17 21:16:59 PDT 2013
Settings Folder: /Users/jshowalt/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance
OS: Mac OS X 10.7.5 x86_64
Java: 1.7.0-moneydance2012-888 (Oracle Corporation)
Is in sandbox: true; restricted file access: false
Starting netsync build 27

(re)initializing dropbox settings (allowed=true; ext build=27)
netsync: scanning for existing services...
svc type added: _scan-target._tcp.local.
svc type added: _ipp._tcp.local.
There was still the message that no devices could be found from the desktop.
Thanks, and good luck.
