MoneyDance crashes when click on Split (transaction) Button or if I click on an existing split transaction to edit it
Just started doing this today
MD freezes completely and only way to restart is to force a close from task manager
I have updated to latest release today (2023.1)
Problem was there before and also still after the updated

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Saying Task Manager makes me thinking you are on Windows

We do see a problems where Windows can be rendered off screen and it looks lke Moneydance is hung whereas it is waiting on you.

The first two approaches uses standard Windows methods to move a window onscreen.

The traditional approach to moving a window is as follows. Use the Key combination - followed by the M key to get access to the resize and move options and to invoke the Move function then use the arrow keys to move the window back onto the visible screen.

Alternatively, if you're using Windows 7 or later, you can try holding down the and keys, then tap the or key, which should move the missing window onto your current monitor.

If all else fails you can try the next approach.

Rename the config.dict file that exists in the .Moneydance folder under your login directory. doing this removes all preferences including the remembered positions, it will be as if Moneydance has just been installed, so you need to open your Data Set as well as re-enter your license key.

Normally I'd talk about another approach, but I suspect something has been changed in Moneydance 2023 which means I'll leave that for now.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/584586822023-04-01T11:23:26Z2023-04-01T11:23:26ZMoneyDance crashes when click on Split (transaction) Button

Hi There
Your third option seems to have resolved it
Many thanks for the super quick response

nick.j.haleytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/584586822023-04-01T11:26:12Z2023-04-01T11:26:12ZMoneyDance crashes when click on Split (transaction) Button

No problem, happy to help.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/584586822023-04-13T15:42:11Z2023-05-22T13:09:43ZMoneyDance crashes when click on Split (transaction) Button

I've been having the same issue lately. Option #2 above worked for me. Thanks, I never knew about that keyboard shortcut for moving missing windows. :)

moore
