Copy / Paste
Hi
I have recently up-graded to the latest version of Moneydance.
Since then when pasting data from Moneydance to an excel spreadsheet I get an odd symbol before the GBP sign eg £ 105,592.62
Is there any way to resolve this issue?
Thanks
Robin

Hi Robin,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
After generating a report, you should choose 'Save'. Then, you should select the 'Format' to 'Comma Delimited'- Encoded for Excel
Then click 'Browse' and specify where you want to save the file.
Before saving, check the correct file format has been applied. Your file should be called 'YourFileName.csv'.
If the file format is not included, you can add '.csv' (without the quotes) to the end of the file name.
This will create a comma delimited file that will open with Excel.
If you have already saved the file, you can navigate to it on your computer, and re-name the file from there, to include .csv at the end of the file name.
Alternatively, you could use the extension Extract Data version 1031. This is available from Extensions->Manage Extensions->Extract Data
This extension is a useful tool aiming to extract your data to screen/csv. Options incl: 'StockGlance2020' investments, Reminders, Account / Investment transactions, Currency History; Attachments.
So, you can download your data to excel where you can filter, sort etc.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

Thanks for trying to help ... I tried both SAVE + Extract options but unfortunately I still have this symbol ( £ ) instead of a plain £ sign. Any further advice much appreciated.
TIA
Robin

Are you sure you are running the extract_data extension as this does not have the problem you describe. Can you send a screenshot of a part of the screen showing this problem?

I've attached a snip of a spreadsheet I'm trying to work with... I always use copy to clipboard and then paste into excel. I have tried the extract option with the same result

As has been said, from the report in Moneydance, using the Save: comma delimited (CSV, Encoded for Excel) option should resolve this problem and also if you use the Extract_Data Extension that should also be fine.
You may need to tell us the exact steps you are taking in Moneydance.

Hi
I have tried the Save: comma delimited (CSV, Encoded for Excel) option and also the Extract_Data Extension ... I always seem to get the same display problem

As already requested, can you send me a screenshot of an excel extract from the extract_data extension, showing the problem too? One where NO COPY & PASTE'ing has been done..? Thx

I also have Robin Hynes' problem.
Maddy's first suggested solution works for me, but surely this is a bug that needs fixing?
I have a spreadsheet that I update annually with various reports from MoneyDance. This solution now requires me to save my individual reports as suggested, then open them up in Excel, and then cut and paste then into my master spreadsheet - all the while knowing that in past years all I had to do was Copy to Clipboard and paste to where I needed it.
Any chance of a proper fix?
I have also downloaded the Extract Data Extension, but at first glance it looks a bit technical for me. Will need to play with it.

I’ve suggested the fix to the developer several times. It’s easy to implement. IK just need another menu option like the save to excel encoded option (which I originally requested). Ie copy to clipboard with excel encoding.
