Portfolio view: Securities disappear when sync data is written
I'm running 2023.1 v 5006 on a Windows 10 Laptop. I sync to the Moneydance app on an android phone using the Dropbox Folder method.
If I go open the Portfolio summary view, all eleven of my securities are listed, with a pie chart under them. Every thirty seconds or so, a message appears at the bottom of the program screen saying "Finished writing sync data" and at the same time many lines of securities disappear, leaving just two, or sometimes three or four. The pie chart still appears below, listing all of them.
If I select another view, eg an account, and then return to the portfolio view, thus refreshing it, the page again displays all of the securities, but only for thirty seconds or so, when the above happens again.
This happens frequently, but not continually. The frequent syncing seems an intermittent thing.
I seem to remember this happening in the past, but it has only just started happening again,
Any ideas what the problem is?

Hi Stuart,
Thanks for the quick response.
Needless to say, after posting my original query, Moneydance has behaved and seems not to have done the serial data syncing, and the security list remains intact, so I'm not sure if the attached console log will tell you much.
I will post it again when/if the issue recurs.
Many thanks,
RobS

I just reloaded Moneydance after making a couple of entries on the Android app and the issue happened again, this time only two securities disappeared, leaving nine on the summary page. The console output for this session is attached.

Try this.
1. Toolbox. Update mode. Advanced menu. Shrink dataset. Set to zero days. Then restart MD. See if the problem has gone.
If not.
Report back?

Many thanks Stuart.
Will be later today before I get a chance but will report back once I've done it and had a chance to see if it is sorted.
Cheers,
Rob

Stuart,
I loaded MD several times and was unable to reproduce my original problem.
Nonetheless, I carried out the first suggestion, and it still works fine.
I shall keep an eye on this over the coming days and if further issues arise I'll carry out your second suggestion and report back.
To be honest, the Portfolio Value page isn't something I use a great deal. I needed it yesterday to refer to stock prices in order to update an Excel spreadsheet where an automated Yahoo update had failed, but I now have this working again, so the need to refer to the MD Portfolio page has reduced.
Cheers,
RobS

Can you send me a new console now that you have done this...

Stuart,
New console as requested.
Kind regards,
RobS

Your bad padding error has now gone. I suspect the problem is fixed. Let’s see.

Thanks for that Stuart, and for all your help.
Fingers firmly crossed.
