I'm trying to reconcile a credit card (which I do every month) but it is out of balance by $24.99.
I have checked everything and it turns out the Statement beginning balance on the Reconcile window is wrong!
I balanced last month and the ending balance was $-1218.87 But when I try to reconcile this month the Beginning Statement balance is $-1203.88. I do have one $24.99 transaction this month and had lone back in November that is marked as Reconciled.
How can I fix the Beginning Statement Balance and How did it get off?

The beginning statement balance is calculated by Moneydance, it if is wrong it means something has been changed somewhere. It is not possible to change the balance, if you could make an arbitrary change it would just build the error into the account, because an error here is saying there is something wrong somewhere.

The last section of the following article talks about what could have been changed.

Thanks - I've been through all those options/causes and I'm very careful in
dealing with these transactions as I've been reconciling for many years.
This one really threw me and it took me quite a while to track down that
the initial balance was the cause.
But this triggered a question so I did a search for $24.99 transactions on
the credit card site and found one in January that somehow is not in my MD
file! I will add it and clear it.
Thanks for the response and the link
