Incomplete Description of merchant
At first it seems to be the bank's information flaw but other software downloads a full name of merchant. Moneydance only gives me the first letter of a merchant. I have used Moneydance for years and this is new

This is not an investment or loan account It is a regular everyday checking and worked correctly in the past

just a user - this is definitely not normal behavior.
How are you downloading? OFX, MD+, manual downloads? If manual, what file format?
You say this is recent, but have you tested "other software" again to insure that it is still working the same as before and only Moneydance has changed?
What version of Moneydance are you using, and what platform (Mac/Windows/Linux)
Given it worked before, has anything changed recently (that often can be the cause of a problem)
Oh, and finally, what bank? It may be the banks fault somehow.

I am a long time user of Money Dance
OFX same as always. Other software works fine. Money wiz.
Most recent version of Money Dance. Mac laptop. One bank on both software. Early download from the bank were as usual full description. It is almost as if the columns are to narrow for full but are not. Wide as possible

Is this an automatic OFX download, or downloaded as an OFX file then imported?
When you say "early download", does that mean you've examined the current files and they do still have the full description, and that it is on import that it truncates to one letter?

File download no change there. When I began with a new bank the download was fine for several weeks then stopped short of full description. Works on bills that are the usual. It is the debit to a variety of merchants we use

If you are downloading a file, open it in a text editor like Notepad and look for the description that is not loading properly. It is complete is there something there that could be throwing the import off?
