Text File Importer
I have been using Moneydance for approximately 18 months,
currently on 2012.05. During this time and since updating to
2012.05 I have been able to use text file importer to import
account data into Moneydance however I now receive the following
message:
Error: The specified file either does not exist or is not readable
by Moneydance.
Any suggestions? The files are the same plain text format I have
used previously and I have attempted to move them to an alternative
location.
thanks Jody

Hello Jody,
Would you be willing to attach one of these files you are trying to import to this thread? We would then be able to narrow down if the problem is with the file itself, or something with your installation of Moneydance.

USAA switched from downloading in QFX format to exporting in csv format. I tried using Text File Importer to import the csv file but nothing happened after I completed the process. No transactions were imported into the account.

Hi William,
I was able to successfully import your .CSV file using the Text File Importer.
Set up the Text File Importer extension as follows:
Screen 1
Browse: navigate to your CSV file.
Encoding: UTF-8
Screen 2
Account: your USAA account
Fields Delimiter: [ , ]
Date Format: MDY
Decimal Point: .
Screen 3
Field 1: Ignore
Field 2: Ignore
Field 3: Date
Field 4: Ignore
Field 5: Description
Field 6: Memo
Field 7: Amount
I can't be certain of Field 6: Memo. I took a guess at that.

Hi William,
You can actually use the Text File Importer or the CSV Importer.
The slight advantage goes to the CSV Importer in that it checks for duplicates during the import.
Look to my posts 7 and 8 in the following thread:

In this users case, it was a USAA Master Card account. You can change the settings to suit your needs but the idea is there.
