Export Backup file name has become too long to save
Overtime, my "Export Backup" file name has grown so long that it needs to be "reduced" each time I save to an external source. How can I automatically keep it reduced to a "savable" size?

This indicates a likely problem about your main dataset name and how you are opening MD each time. This often means you are double clicking the last backup to open MD. In fact this will restore the last backup. Thus when the next backup takes place, you get more (and more) added to the name.
Run toolbox, analyse dataset and objects button. Upload content here.

Yup. You’ve definitely restored and opened several backup files, on these dates:
20220521
20220521
20220703
20220909
20220915
20220916
20221109
20221204
20230127
20230210
20230403
20230404
20230414
20230501
But clearly not every day. So is this accidental? Deliberate? How do you launch MD?
Anyway, I suggest you use toolbox, update mode, general tools, rename dataset back to a simple name, and monitor the situation.

Hi Stuart: Thank you, that worked. I am not sure what I am doing wrong....I
have the program on two computers and save to the main desktop daily, and
save weekly to thumb drive and back up on laptop weekly just for good
measure. Something in the transfer of files maybe (?) or.....regardless,
that worked, thanks again. :stuck_out_tongue:
