I’m a fellow user.
I would suggest you go back to the version of Moneydance you upgraded from by reinstalling it (for example if you were on the previous stable build it would be Moneydance 2023.1 Build 5006), Start Moneydance and then update your extensions (Menu Option: Extensions → Manage Extensions), then close Moneydance and do the upgrade to Moneydance 2023.2 Build 5059 again.
Your error is a sign of an outdated extension and the process given above, in this instance, is the easiest way to address it.
Previous versions of Moneydance are available from:
https://infinitekind.com/previous-versions-of-moneydance
Or if you came from the previous stable build of Moneydance 2023

I did what you suggested below (reinstalled 5006 and updated all
extensions, then upgraded) ... still got error pop-up! removed 5059
again ... REMOVED all files in ~/home/.moneydance/fmodules directory!
Re-installed 5059! ... Success! Downloaded extensions that I wanted.

Just ignore the pop-up but then go and update all your extensions. For me, there was no need to downgrade to the previous version, not remove and re-install all the extensions.

Upgrading to the latest preview version will definitely fix the problem for you, without a workaround.
Moneydance 2023.2 (5060) is now available to download from this page.
For a full list of improvements in the preview version, please refer to this page.
You should overwrite/remove the previous version and restart Moneydance!

TNX ... I've been using moneydance since it first came out and had about
30-40 files in the fmodules directory. I just removed ALL of them and
then only loaded the ones I use after installing the new version. I've
no issues since then. TNX

You must have had some extremely old extensions that has never been uninstalled.
It is wise to use the uninstall capability in the Manage Extensions interface to remove any extensions you no long want to use as this will not only remove them from the fmodules folder but will also remove them from the config.dict configuration file.
